At post graduation, again I was over-looked by the industry I suspect because of my gender as male and age and even perhaps my accent made me target. How does a male with a non local accent secure employment in his retirement. As an ELF in a female industry after two courses with Tefl.org almost two years later and despite their promises, age was not a barrier along with gender. I have discovered it very much is a barrier. Tefl.org have never shown any support. I'm done spinning my wheels. I would advise all seasoned males think carefully if this is a career at retirement to remain busy. This is the worse case scenario of this more subtle form of prejudice in my view, while no sources exist in the UK to prevent it. Never received a refund nor any follow-up in finding employment. A real sense of indifference is felt from this company and its not like they are unaware of my dissatisfaction or predicament.
