I used Synetiq to buy a replacement engine for my son’s car. The engine arrived with small ball-bearings in the sump and had a very loud bottom end noise when running. I contacted Synetiq asking what validation checks had been done on the engine prior to sale and their response was its sounded okay when we started it up. After considerable discussion they agreed to replace the engine on the condition that the faulty engine was returned to them. The second engine duly arrived but unfortunately it developed an extremely loud top-end noise after running on idle for about thirty minutes. Synetiq were contacted with the request to send one of their mechanics to listen to the engine which they declined. They offered a third replacement engine or a refund, but only if the faulty engine was returned to them. I suggested to Synetiq that they should consider additional reimbursement for the time and effort installing two faulty engines which they had supplied, their response was no, they could only refund the purchase cost. Throughout the above debacle, Synetiq were extremely difficult to contact, their complaints Email facility would only respond after chasing them and even then, it took five or six days to respond. Their online Chat was almost useless as they had to refer to their manager who was never available.
