This was a last minute booking. We fell on our feet with both Avoriaz and hotel.
Flights and transfers worked well with only hassle over boarding passes to mar it.
On checking in for the outbound flight I had an email saying that we were checked in for both flights and pdfs of boarding passes were attached. Boarding passes for the outward flight only were attached. The TUI app doesn’t work because they exclude passengers who haven’t booked direct with TUI. TUI customer support said ’that’s the way it goes, the TUI check in desk at Chambery will be able to print boarding passes for you, which sounded weird but was confirmed by yourselves.
The day before the return flight I went on the TUI website again and checked in for the return flight and got the option of an email with the boarding passes which we were able to download to phones. It would have saved a bit of angst if TUI’s initial email had given accurate rather than misleading information.
The Hotel Neige et Roc was great, a very nice friendly, family run hotel, a decent sized room, bar, dining room and lounges. We didn’t use the pool, sauna or hot pool but would have been nice options if we were unable to ski for a day. The ski/boot room was right next to the back door with a couple of minutes walk to the Gondola, at the day’s end we could ski to just across the road from the hotel. We’d be very happy to go back to the same place.
Snow conditions weren't great with brown fields at Morzine and Les Gets. Avoriaz had firm packed snow with slushy moguls on the busy runs in the afternoon. The pistes above Les Lindarets and Châtel were quieter and in better condition.
We had excellent lessons from New Generation Ski School.
Altogether a really good week.
