For me, Smarty is consistently great. I do have to laugh at the negative reviews, probably from clueless people, who don’t even have the capacity to check that Three (Smarty’s parent company) offer good coverage where they live, work, socialise, etc ! You see it on the smarty community forum all the time, “I bought a smarty SIM card and I don’t have coverage ! Smarty is rubbish waaaaaa !” “Did you check the coverage where you live, work, etc ?” “No, I bought it cos it’s cheap !” Then we see the people who complain that their smarty SIM card won’t work in the caravan or motor home in rural Europe, not only because coverage is poor, but because they are driving around in a large faraday cage. People try to be cheap and use Smarty as a permanent replacement for fixed line broadband, then complain that it won’t connect to their 8 devices, and little Shaniqua-Destiny needs WiFi on her iPad ! Still my favourite is the guy who couldn’t get a smarty SIM card working in his Tesla. Transpired you had to buy a connectivity service Tesla. As a Smarty customer for a couple of years, for me it’s great. The caveat remains that, like with any network, you have a responsibility to yourself to ensure Three offers good coverage where you need it most. Smarty could be free, but if it doesn’t offer coverage where you need it, it’s as much use as two tin cans and a piece of string.
