This foam is ideal for your needs if making shadow foam is what you need, it does just whats on the tin, I will say that the guys on-line from Shadow Foam make it look very easy to do - its not that easy but with some practice you will get better.
We used a laser cutter to do the initial outline cuts which worked well.
