I am a keen reader who always has at least two or three books on the go, but I admit to doing most of that reading on my Kindle, so it has been a forgotten pleasure to hold an actual print and paper book again, to admire the cover, to watch my physical progress through the book and even to smell the newness of the pages! I love being introduced to writers and titles I’d probably never have chosen myself and to feel challenged into really thinking about them, whether I like them or not (and if not, why). I admit I haven’t yet contributed to an online forum (only two books in, but I do mean to sometime soon!), but love to read what others are saying and to feel I am sharing the experience. All this plus the thrill of unwrapping that lovely paper each month to find out what my “lucky dip” title is. I even found the inclusion of a matching bookmark a lovely touch. I'm so glad to have been introduced to the Rare Birds Book Club as a gift. It's a brilliant idea (as I’ve been telling all my friends!).
