We booked the girls VR party for 6 players, along with the pop-up tent. The booking process was a pain; I was unable to book what I wanted online and had to phone. During this, and many subsequent calls and emails, I received conflicting information regarding the space needed and number of players I could have. Eventually it was agreed we'd have a 6x3m tent for 6 players yet I had to keep checking this was correct as the info repeatedly emailed through said 4 players plus 2 extra OR a tent. I also ordered 6 party bags, as part of the package, with all 8 items available yet the order was put through as 5 bags with half the content. This was rectified one week before but still, it was added stress. I didn't ever feel complete confidence in what we'd get on the day. When the host arrived, he said he'd been given a 7x3m tent as it had been assumed that their square tent (?!) wouldn't have fitted in our garden?!! None of this was ever discussed with us. Thankfully we we were able to accomodate the 7x3m tent. It was a beautifully sunny day and apparently, had we had the square tent - which we didn't know anything about - the equipment wouldn't have worked in such conditions! The players struggled enough in the tent we did have, with one of my guests getting upset because her VR set wasn't working due to the sun! We were never warned this could be the case. It felt a bit shambolic from booking through to playing, to the point that I asked the host if Pop Up Arcade were a new company. Additionally leading up to the party, we received an email saying "About a week before your party, you'll get a package from us with the... Pick and Mix for the party. Your host will bring the Pick and Mix jars and table with them on the day and will set everything up once they arrive". On the day, we asked our host if he wanted the pick n mix we'd been sent, and were told 'most parents just put them in a bowl and hand them out'. Ok.... Overall, the party was a success and everyone had fun but honestly, this was really just testment to the lovely group of girls we had playing, rather than anything Pop Up Arcade specifically did.
