We've been getting "special occasion" meat from Pipers Farm for several years and have found the service, reliability and, not least, the quality of the meat to be unfailingly superlative. We have this year's Christmas order in and are expecting it later this week. However, we recently cooked a smaller joint of rolled, boned pork shoulder. The meat was beautifully tender and had the flavour you only get from happy pigs, but the joint gave out a huge amount of fat and left us with only just enough meat for a single meal for two! We always cheerfully pay the money for great quality, but this did not at all represent good value, unfortunately. In the past we've managed a roast dinner then enough for cold the next day, but not this time!
