I was asked to take photos after questioning the colour of the wallpaper I received as it was not as described on their website and the resolution of the print was grainy and poor quality. I was asked to take some photos so they could check it. Naturally I opened the roll of paper to take the photos. They informed me after reviewing the photos that the paper was as expected at which point I requested a refund as I was not happy with the quality/colour. I was informed that because I had opened the roll, that it was against their returns policy and that they would not refund me my money if I returned it after being opened.
Despite the paper being clearly different from the website pictures/description/quality (as you would expect from a £100 roll of wallpaper!) and that I was tricked into opening the roll unknowingly invalidating my return as per their policy, I requested politely that they make an exception given the circumstances and accept the return (still within the 30 days), but they refuse.
I believe that I am within my rights to open and inspect goods bought online (as per the Consumer Contracts Regulations) and will be taking this further.
