Purchased a pair of brogue boots a few years ago and then wore them for a week to "settle them in" then put them in my shoe store until my 'Red Wings' expired. I usually buy shoes well in advance of need. A few years later, it was time to commission them. Within a month the leather lining on the heal wore through. Took them to a bootmaker but alas he said the boot would have to be dismantled to repair them, and the cost would be prohibitive. He was surprised at the poor choice of leather selected. As far as I can remember he quoted "neither thicker or stronger than paper" I was a little slow in returning them to Grenson. All as they did was to stick a piece of leather on the heel which came off the first time I put them on, but they were returned in a lovely box including a with compliments slip. They ,Grensons, could obviously see these boots were as new in every other respect. I have had products from this company before and they were excellent. The boots in question were about £275 which is cheap by Grenson pricing, and if I remember correctly they were 'Made in India'. In life I try to buy quality products as usually they are more cost effective over time. Now I usually buy 'Red Wing' boots, which are beyond reproach. Sorry Grenson, but never again for me or my friends.
