My daughter had insurance with this company for 2 months and every month they threatened to cancel it, the first time is because she had to wait 1week for the black box to be installed, then they said ignore it as by law it can take up to two weeks for installation, the second is because they said she was tampering with the box as the AA advised us to take it to the garage due to mechanical issues so the vehicle wasn’t in use as the garage had it for over a week waiting for a part, they found this to be suspicious! and the third and final time they accused her of suspicious activity as the car hasn’t been driven, although we previously told them that we will be abroad for Christmas for 2 weeks however, they continually harassed her by asking her to reply to emails and phone calls which we advised them that we would make contact on our return due to poor internet connection, however they continued to text and ring my daughter to advise that they’ve cancelled it so when she wrote a negative review they text and rang to speak with her ! This impact has affected the family especially during Christmas these people are ruthless and insensitive at this festive time. They proceeded to take the direct debit of £360 that month and then refunded her back £29 which she received after she left a negative review about how she’d been treated during the 2 months when signing up with Carrot. We will be communicating with Management of Carrot on our return to the UK and if no resolution can be found we will be exposing this company to the BBC consumer show for further investigation and justice. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID at all costs! It’s a very unorganised and stressful experience dealing with this company who ultimately only seem to want to collect big deposits from young people and a few months instalments or less for some it seems, then have pleasure in cancelling young people’s car insurance without no notice not even 24 hours, my daughter was sent an email at 5pm saying her insurance will be cancelled by 11pm when my daughter tried to call 5pm to discuss it as she had no knowledge of even being investigated she got a recorded message saying the company was now closed ! How backhanded to send a email so late in the day letting her know that the insurance will expire in 6 hours at 11pm ! Disgusting behaviour, just unbelievable! Despicable ethics, this company need to be named and shamed ! Don’t be fooled by there cheap quotes! It’s a ploy I think, to reel young people in, then money is taken and insurance is then cancelled! It seems, within a few months! There is a pattern this company’s practice! Avoid at all costs, it’s not worth all the stress and lengthy phone calls that only result in cancellation without you even knowing that they are investigating you! Very underhand practices they only seem to want to threaten cancellation and cancel without any warning.
