I had high hopes for The Funky Iron that I purchased online with the discount. Unfortunately it did something I would call a safety hazard and despite my numerous emails explaining what happened and requesting a refund, I basically was unsuccessful. When I first got the iron I read and followed all the instructions, I was very excited to use it. As I was using the iron for the second time correctly, a stream of water spurted out from the hole of the cover where you fill up the iron with water. Everytime I pressed down on the steam button this happened without actual steam coming from the soleplate of the iron. I checked that the green indicator button was ready for steam to be delivered and double checked I had the correct amount of water, which I did. I waited and tried again and the same thing happened and I purposely touched the water that spurted out and it was obviously extremely hot. Immediately I think I sent an email describing what had happened and explaining I wanted a refund and that was a safety issue because if a young child had just walked past, the hot stream of water could have scalded them. In reply to my email I was told the hole was there to let any air escape and that the water was cold water, or possibly I overfilled the tank, and that it was not a safety issue. No no no , I was very specific in my email and that with all the irons I have bought this had never happened before. So they gave me two choices, to receive a refund I either send a video of this problem happening or I guess a video of me using the iron to show it not happening or send back the iron to be tested by them. I challenged this because I felt that I just didn't want the iron anymore regardless of the outcome with a video or sending it back. If I have told you there is a safety issue, it means I do not want your item. The Funky Iron company did not back down and insisted I send it back for testing. I stated I would not do this and that I would not use their iron but buy another one. I also asked what would happen if I did video trying the iron again and the issue did not occur, would I not get my refund??? I decided to try the iron and video it....but the fault did happen. So my conclusion was they definitely would not refund me. I think I sent another email regarding this but never got a reply. I just think it is disgusting, that I have an iron and if I use it has a safety issue that could still happen. I was not happy at all and I never ever have to make a negative review about any item I have bought. I will not be buying anything from this company again.
