I have recently started a new role in Information Governance in the public sector. Much of my work relates to data protection and it was suggested to me that the BCS Foundation Certificate in Data Protection would be a good starting point. I had previously worked as an archivist in local authority for many years in local authority and felt quite ‘at sea’ in this new environment. The course offered by Freevacy has helped greatly in providing me with background and context. Throughout the week of the course, which was offered remotely, many things in my new role began to make sense. The tutor explained the concepts in a very accessible way and was very supportive. It was useful to listen to the discussions of more experienced course participants and very helpful to work on practice questions, I found the course enjoyable and hugely beneficial for my new role and would recommend it to others starting out in data protection.
