We used eshores for a multi centre holiday last month (September) and can best describe it as a curate's egg, i.e. good in parts. We booked to spend 14 nights island hopping in the Greek islands starting in Santorini. Unfortunately due to an evening flight out of Gatwick and the 2 hour time difference we arrived at our accommodation, Estates 1896, at 1:30 am where everything was closed down and no sign of anyone on site, after an hour of walking round we located a room with a key in it that led to a sub-terranean cavern with a bed in it which we made use of, only to find out the next day that this was apparently our "superior room with sea views", with no windows in the room I found that a bit of a stretch of the imagination, though the smell was reminiscent of a sewage outlet in a chinese harbour, apparently they planned to get that fixed after we had left. Surely someone could have anticipated our time of arrival and emailed us instructions how to find our room. Santorini was absolutely fantastic, though strong winds were playing havoc with the inter-island ferries and indeed when we came to leave our ferry to Ios had been cancelled, we contacted eshores who suggested if we needed to spend another night in Santorini we should pay cash and they would reimburse us, however, we did manage to secure passage on a different ferry. The Farout hotel and spa was much more the accommodation we had been hoping for and we had a great time in Ios until... when we came to catch our ferry from Ios to Naxos, we found ourselves to be the only people waiting for the ferry, on enquiry we were told that the ferry we were booked on had been withdrawn from this service 3 weeks beforehand, which pre-dated us booking our tickets with eshores, again we called eshores and were told to buy more tickets and we would be re-imbursed. We succeeded in getting replacement tickets but wound up unnecessarily wasting an entire day trying to travel to Naxos as we had to go to Paros and then secure another ferry to Naxos. Still waiting to hear how we were sold tickets for a non-existent ferry! On to Naxos and the Hotel Aspasia which we had read great reviews about, but yet again a late arrival meant we were given a noisy road facing room which was equipped to a much lower standard than the other rooms we saw, not even a kettle to boil water for a cuppa. Finally an incident free transfer to Mykonos and the very delightful Hotel Pseidon, which we were very impressed by, however, just as we were preparing to return to the UK we received an email from eshores advising that because of the Thomas Cook collapse our transfer to the airport had been cancelled. On our return I spoke with Chris who was very apologetic and said that he would discuss it with management and would re-imburse our out of pocket expenses with a voucher to be used against another eshores holiday, I am not sure we could take the stress, but that was 3 weeks ago so I don't think we will be hearing any more on that matter. As this was an "off the peg" holiday route I would expect eshores to use accommodation they had used before and had good reviews for, I suspect if the Santorini hotel experience had been better and the ferry transfers less troublesome I would be joining others in giving eshores a five star review.
