Plastic is not as strong as one we bought years ago in Australia. I bought it for a cat, I think it would be strong enough for a small dog, but really for the money, I'd expect a bit better strength and quality. I'm not going to be using it for air travel, purely for going to the vet, cattery etc. I really don't like the metal windows. I feel the space at the side a cat, and possibly a small dog, could easily try to paw through the space. If I wanted one for air travel, I'd certainly look around to see if there was anything better.
