Having oly recenly rediscovered the greetings card enclosed with hamper I have just realised why the scones were dry almost stale and subsequently consigned to the waste bin.
A gift intended for Father's Day and opened on that date now to read on the enclosed card " Best before "20/6/2021".
However, as that was the date for Father's Day one could hardly consume an item that had reached the expiry date.
I have not informed the sender of my gift ( it would upset her) I would merely reiterate the problem that occurred in my instance.
