When my husband died suddenly in the early hours of a Saturday, it was impossible to get a local undertaker to collect his body and a basic cremation and service was going to cost more than £6000. Celebration of Life were kind, but not gooey when I called. An unattended cremation was just over £1300. The private ambulance arrived within 3 hours, despite traffic snarls, and two amazing women deftly got my husband, not a small man, onto a stretcher and down our twisty stairs. I was kept informed throughout the cremation process and accommodated my requests re tricky relatives. COL even returned his ashes to my workplace, as I could not be at home to receive them.
