Authorized Toyota dealers are useless after the 5-year warranty period expires. I booked an appointment to get my car serviced at 50,000miles/5years & for MOT at Hayes-Toyota. I reached their 15-minutes before the appointment. However, my car was not taken to the workshop until 12.30pm. I was called after a while, and the person sitting close to the back-wall far way from the front counter (where the documents were not visible) told me that the report of the visual inspection has come and talked me through 5 items including, (1) Cabin filter dirty, (2) Fog light, (3) Wipers smearing, (4) Front slitter insecure, (5) Disk pads lipped. He said that that the 3, 4, 5 points were advisory changes and nothing serious, and I can get them changed on my next service and if I am happy they will change the cabin filter and fog light now. I immediately agreed. He then said that there is some problem with the computer system and the mechanic cannot log himself into the system, and therefore MOT cannot be done. I said I am happy to wait until evening as my MOT expires tomorrow. He said that he could not assure me if they would be able to do MOT in the evening or tomorrow and suggested me to take my car elsewhere. I was not happy with the situation, so he immediately recommended a garage around the corner. I went there and got an appointment for MOT for 17-July-2018. I then felt that I was at last-minute risk and decided to take my car to another private garage for the MOT. To my surprise, the MOT of my car failed due to both front windscreen wiper blades, which needed an immediate change due to excessive wear. I was shocked that the Hayes-Toyota did not inform me of this! I had to pay another £64.31 to get it fixed on top of the MOT fee. Points of concerns : (1) I was returned the car in an unwashed state even though the document that they asked me to sign said the car would be washed. I got my car serviced several times before at anther Toyota center, and the car was always washed before handing it over to me (...maybe just as a courtesy, but they did). (2) There was just one (used!) glass for customers to drink water which I was offered for use! (3) What is the point of getting a service done at Toyota's approved Center if my MOT on the same day fails at another center? (4) I am surprised that Hayes-Toyota refused to do the MOT in the first place, but they had no issue with doing a poor 5-year service. (5) I was surprised how immediately I was referred to a garage close-by and asked to provide Hayes-Toyota's reference. (6) The estimated price for service and MOT was given to me at booking time was £204 including VAT, but I was charged £223.38 without doing an MOT and the price on receipt reads (£37.50 for the air filter and £11.15 for the fog light). I was not even given my old fog light back! (7) When I came home and carefully noted the visual inspection report, the person at the counter had written prices for 3 items (fog light, wipers, cabin filter) in the report but not for the other two (Front slitter and disk pad lipped). However, he only mentioned 2 items for an immediate change (fog light & cabin filter). I am not sure why did he not asked an immediate wiper change if it is an essential requirement to pass an MOT? I sent a written complained to Toyota's local head office, and the best solution they came up with was to talk to the center! I was very disappointed with this awful experience at Hayes-Toyota and Toyota in general (an approved Toyota dealer)!
