The customer services rep did try and help, and I don't think this is their fault so let me preface this review with that. If you're ordering on the mainland, go for it. Before ordering I enquired what the delivery cost would be to the Channel Islands. £110, which is understandable for a large object. Wouldn't deduct VAT on the site though, even though they don't have to pay it for items shipped to the CI. Hmmm, ordered anyway as I couldn't find this model anywhere else. Maybe I could claim VAT back. Took a while to get here but not too bad. Tracking was ok. Item arrived but wasn't shipped to my house: I had to go and pick it up. £110 looking less value - but hey ho it's here. BBQ Land have a flat "No" for the VAT deduction question. That's that then. BBQ box was damaged, BBQ components bent quite badly. Emailed BBQ Land to let them know, with pictures, and to advise that my £110 delivery only did half the job. Their reply was essentially 'BBQ should still go together ok but let us know if you have any issues. Oh and the delivery cost us £250, so count yourself lucky'. Not in those exact words, but that was pretty much the response and the tone. Now had the item not cost £800 to begin with, and had it gone together well I might have let this go - but the whole thing is slightly askew, meaning there isn't a proper seal on the smoker lid. I couldn't have known this until putting it together (which is what they advised me to do), after which I couldn't really send it back. To respond to my question with "oh well the delivery cost us more than you paid" isn't a valid response. I paid what they quoted. They could have told me it was £250 and I could have taken that into account. As it stands, I've paid £110 delivery and a couple hundred quid "VAT" for a broken bit of kit I can't return. Might be frustrating for them to, but it's not really my fault as the customer. **UPDATE** Received a reply, offering to refund the difference between what it cost them and what I paid (whilst making sure to point out they weren't happy about it). Better than nothing. Might go towards getting the lid fixed I suppose. This hasn't been a great experience. I'd have forgiven it for a few hundred quid, but if I'm paying closer to a grand I'd expect a bit more care on their end to inform customers, package better for shipping and follow up on legitimate queries. Sounds like their deliveries and service to the mainland are great. So I don't mind recommending you give them a go.
