We had a wonderful time and Tromso is such a beautiful town, with all the lights and the snow which made its first appearance on our first day. My daughter told me it was the inspiration for the staging post city on the way to "the north" in the Golden Compass film/ books by Philip Pullman The trips were great and I really loved the reindeer one. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful with everything e.g getting into the overalls. We did see the Northern Lights - quite faint and I didn't realise that they show up better on a camera even a mobile one than the naked eye. However, I am very pleased with what we saw. If I was going again I would make time for a whale watching cruise as well, although I'm not too worried as we've a trip planned to Alaska next year. We also went up the cable car and to the artic cathedral. I would heavily recommend getting "spikes" that you clip under boots to help with the icy pavements. Some people earlier in the week had had the sled ride cancelled as it hadn't snowed sufficiently then and the snow is arriving later each year so people might need to go later in the season if that is a priority for them.
