It was easy to discuss the holiday we were looking for and the options available to us. Jack helped us plan the most suitable itinerary and it worked very well for us. The hotels were all comfortable and clean. The service was excellent in the Hotel Degenija at Plitvice and the Hotel Bastion in Zadar. However the location of the Hotel Cvita in Split was not very pleasant, quite a long gruelling walk into the city and the staff were not as on the ball. Also, there was nowhere to change near the pool area. The service from the car rental was also poor. We waited over an hour to be attended to and the car we were given was badly scratched and dented. We also discovered that the windscreen wash bottle was empty, so it clearly hadn't been checked thoroughly before being handed over. However, the young woman who did serve is was friendly and did a good job of noting the damage to the car. We would certainly consider using Balkan Escape again, but be a bit more discerning about the hotels we were choosing.
