Our policy came to an end and we decided to take out a new policy with this provider. We now wish we hadn't... Toward the end of the first week of the new policy our dog unfortunately fell ill with a serious case of pancreatitis. We covered the vets bill totalling close to £900. We made our claim to Ageas in good faith and were told that because the dog fell ill inside the first 14 days of the new policy, that they considered this to be a pre-existing illness. What is the point of the first 14 days if you are not protected for such instances. They will gladly take the cost of the first 14 days of the policy without a second thought!! We have had confirmation from our vet that this was not the case and the dog was in good health on the start date of the policy. This is just another example of an insurance company doing whatever they can to avoid paying out!! We called to discuss this with Ageus and I have to say that the customer service representative was shockingly rude and unhelpful, showed no sympathy or empathy toward our situation and could not have done more to finish the call without a resolution for us . They even suggested that our dogs breed, a Golden Doodle, was not correctly detailed on the claim documents. Another attempt on their part to deny the claim. A Golden Doodle is not a pedigree dog and is considered a cross breed which is what our vet had detailed on the claim document. A good pet insurance provider would be fully aware of this. Do not waste your time or money dealing with these crooks!! If I could give no stars on this review, I would.
