Professional Winfield Oboe Reed - Brass Staple (Medium) Reviews

4.3 Rating 7 Reviews
I normally use a medium for cork staples but this reed seemed far too soft, resulting in a thin tone. This could be because the brass staple makes the reed easier to play, at the cost of sound quality. Perhaps a medium hard reed would be better in this regard.

Recently returning oboist so unsure about lip - like the feel of the reed so far - on the whole positive.

Loved the brass staple, but the actual scrape on the reed was lousy, as often seems to be the case with Winfield reeds now....

I haven't had it for long but so far it's a great reed. Easy to play in all registers and dynamics. Love the Brass Staple and the fact that it can be re-reeded.

My daughter loves this reed! She said its taking a little adjusting, but her tone is so much better. Shipping was insanely fast for coming across the pond, and I'm looking forward to a long relationship with Crook & Staple! :D
