I booked a meet-and-greet pick-up from Heathrow from my laptop. I waited for a confirmation email, which arrived and then shut my computer and happily went about my day knowing that my pick-up was arranged. I then also received a text message confirmation of the booking which was extra reassuring.
I arrived at the arranged pick-up about 5 minutes before planned and waited, after there was no sigh of the driver after 20 minutes waiting, I called the number on the confirmation email and it rang and went to voicemail - so I left a message. I then found a landline number and called that and the controller took my details and then said he would call the driver. After a few minutes he came back and said that he had spoken to the driver and that traffic was heavy around Heathrow, and he would be there in 15 minutes.
So I waited, for 15 minutes, then 35 minutes. Still no sign of the driver. I called the taxi company again who told me that the taxi had been cancelled 4 hours earlier and that they had sent an email (fantastically helpful for those flying I'm sure). They hadn't bothered to send a cancellation text to follow the confirmation text which would actually have been helpful.
I asked the controller why I had been lied to on my first call and told that the driver was on his way and to continue waiting and he was really dismissive like it was my fault.
This is without a doubt the worst airport taxi experience I have had in 25 years of travelling.
