One sloppy design fault dropped the ball for Phillips I have just got the Phillips series 5000 men's shaver and my overall impression is that it is 4/5. The design is good and fits into the hand well. It is a nice size and has good weight to it Clearly a lot of thought has gone into this product. The tiny button to release the top of the shaver head for easy cleaning of the heads is a master stroke. Similar to the previous Phillips shaver I owned, this also has three lights to indicate the battery level and actually, i think that is fine, the digital numbers in percentage is a little overkill I think. I haven't used the cleaner yet. but it looks good and the pot to clean the heads with is a nice feature. There is one thing which lets this shaver down and that is the beard trimmer, it pops up ok, but only allows for downward strokes (my previous one locked in place) and this is a step down in quality. Sometimes, not always, I fancy having a little facial hair, it is only so long a man in his 50's can try to retain cherub like features (haha) This one thing for me spoils what would have been another top marks review. I realise that I could have paid a lot more and perhaps had a locking beard trimmer for my money, sadly financially this was a step too far and I bought the best I could afford. I think a locking beard trimmer should be standard, sadly for me this means either buying a separate product or sharing my shaving time with a disposable razor. And it is for that reason, and that reason alone I am docking one of the possible 5 stars this product could have earned.
