Nasa Gas Monitor & Alarm - Consisting of a cabin mounted monitor and a remote sensor, the Nasa gas detector system warns if the level of LPG rises above 10% of the lowest explosive limit (LEL) giving adequate warning of the need to ventilate the area before a dangerous situation occurs. The monitor gives both a visual and audible warning and will also warn of fault conditions such as damaged cables etc. The splash proof sensor is supplied with a 5m cable and has a test button to check the system right through to the gas sense element. Specifications: ? Supply voltage: 9 to 15 volts ? Low current consumption (typically 30mA) ? Fail safe system warns of system faults ? LEDs show system status continuously ? Two tone alarm ? User replaceable gas sense element ? External output to drive ancillary equipment ? Size: W134mm x H70mm x D28mm

The Nasa Gas Monitor is keenly priced and good value. It comes as two parts: An alarm unit and a separate wired gas sensor. Each are housed in small grey plastic enclosures. The sensor cable is plenty long enough and plugs into the back of the alarm unit. Also included is a 12 VDC fused power cable, which also plugs into the back of the alarm unit. A pair of LED lights show it is active and indicates if the alarm has sounded since the last power cycle, which is a good feature so you can check if there has been a gas leak whilst you were away. A test button allows to trst the alarm and it is fairly loud. My only criticism is that I feel the sensor and power cables would be better to be wired into the alarm unit in a more permanent way, such as with screw terminals to reduce the likelihood of coming unplugged. Alternatively, if snap-fit plugs and sockets were used, this would be an improvement.
