“Beautiful gardens and river view. Lots to see and fantastic scenery. Plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants within walking distance. An open air market in the square added to the list of things to see. Amazing bus trip along the railway lines into Cambridge and excellent value. Spent a full day exploring Cambridge.”

“Dear sir madam, I recently went on one of your wowcher special breaks, it was 2 nights at St ives in Cambridgeshire, I booked it as a very special treat for my wife's 50th Birthday, it was actually my very first time using your company, I have waited several days to contact you as I was too angry to write before, I know you are going to say that I should contact the merchant first, but as they never respond to email I thought it pointless, I honestly don't know where to start regarding the problems with this "luxury break" So I will start at the beginning, we arrived to find the car park full of workers vans and what can only be described as a building site, my wife is disabled, they do not have any disabled parking bays, and the rest of the bays in front of the hotel were all builders vans, so then we proceed to the reception area, which was just a makeshift desk, I should add I emailed the hotel 3 times before our arrival asking certain question, they never responded, I tried calling numerous time, again no response, so when we got there I said to the receptionist I sent you emails, did you get my questions, his reply was I don't know! Then just said oh sorry, so I asked for a ground floor room, nope not got any of those, elevator ? Nope not got one of those either, I then said this break comes with a bottle of prosecco, he responded with , sorry ain't gone none at the moment you will have to come back tomorrow and see if we have any then, so my next question was what time does the restaurant open, oh he said no all that's closed, nothing about this was on your offer, I later found out that somewhere on your site it did say about ongoing work, not made obvious on the add from you at all, it does say something like it would not affect our stay, it ruined our stay which is very much affected by the hotel being almost fully closed, skipping to breakfast, I'm too angry to comment much, only the poorest of ingredients given in a cafeteria type atmosphere, there were 6 people at breakfast and everyone I spoke to was fuming, again you sold this as a luxury break, which brings me back to our "recently refurbished room" again I reference back to the luxury part of the break, the bathroom was awful I have many many photos I can send you to prove my point, the only good thing about the hotel was its location, I do however have very high praise for your advertising team, the photo you use of the hotel by the river looks idyllic, beautiful even, but the reality is far from it, surely you do research before sending your customers here ???? The beautiful terrace you show at the side of the hotel resemble a building site, I pictured myself and my wife sitting our there in the evening with a nice drink enjoying the view, but even that small expectation was too much to ask, I have never been so disappointed with a hotel, and I was so embarrassed that I took my wife there for her 50th birthday, I spent the whole time trying to apologise to her £150 is a lot of money for us to spend on 2 nights away, a friend recommended wowcher deals to me saying they are really good, and as I said this was my very first experience with you, sadly it will be my last also, I did send an email eventually to the Dolphin hotel but of course as expected, I got no response from them, all this buissness was interested in was making as much money as they can whilst the hotel is pretty much closed, I later found out that the reason I could not have a ground floor room is because the rooms were filled with the builders living on site, please please please put on your site that this hotel is running on a skeleton crew with no restaurant and very obvious building work going on around the whole hotel, I'm sorry this was not an email filled with thanks and telling you how great it all was, it was just awful. “Our stay here was ok. I could write lots of negatives but the room was basic but clean. All in all was ok with what we got for the price”

“Stunning location by the river and close to all required amenities. All staff were welcoming, happy to engage and suggest travelling options for Cambridge City centre. Accomodation was clean, quiet and very comfortable.”

“The bedroom was very clean and staff nice.l couldn't have a bath because the bathroom light kept going off ( on a sencer) . Lovely setting next to the river and near shops. The breakfast was nice but cold.”
