I was dubious about giving this saw a high rating. It is is proving to be a very good mitre saw after initial problems. It did not come out of the box accurately set up, the mitre scale being out of whack but after a little messing around that problem was resolved. On first use I had a second much worse problem. This mitre saw being a European model is equipped with a left hand sub-fence which is secured by a single bolt. It is there to keep the height of the fence level in normal cutting mode..it is a large piece of metallic aluminium that if left in place when doing a bevel cut will foul the blade. It is supposed to be swung out of the way, Being rather naive and not reading the instructions, I left it in place . There was a loud bang and the broken end of the subfence became a projectile It was a miracle I was not injured. After initial communication problems Alan Wadkins replaced the fence free of charge for which I am very grateful but it will be totally removed from the saw if I am bevel cutting, just in case I forget. All that aside, it cuts well, smoothly and accurately as you would expect of a Makita tool and a good addition to the workshop. But if in doubt...remove this sub-fence!!!
