Lean angles are limited due to the forward controls so you have to be careful when cornering (soon get used to it) quality of chrome not has good has you would expect mainly exhaust . Engine is smooth and power delivery is also very smooth ,the torque is astounding, lovely riding position very comfortable ,pillion seat not really much use especially on long journeys (touring seat solves this but not cheap).

I find the handling very good and the grip from the tyres very good long journey's are comfortable on the seat but would consider changing to seat of newer version name of which escapes me at moment. Journeys through town can be a bit hit and miss depending on volume of traffic but can still filter to a fare degree. Mpg is not that great about town but on the open road things improve quite a bit. At the moment the only thing I would recommend is that the side stand be moved back about one to two inches so as to make it easy for short legged people like myself to reach. At the rear of the bike is fitted a sissy bar and rack plus panniers, and the front is fitted with fog lights and screen, fog lights work well especially when filtering through traffic the screen takes quite a bit of getting use to as its a tall one and the top seems to be at the wrong hight for me so will try the shorter version when possible, but apart from that quite pleased with things.

the THUNDERBIRD is easy to ride & good fun, not fast but very powerful, comfort is good. Strap the tent on the rack and go camping. I have ridden Suzuki Bandits Honda CBF 1000 but the thunderbird suits my later years.

I have replaced the standard seats with new Mustang seats, the original rider seat was OK but the passenger pillion seat was awful, Triumph don't do a seat of the same quality as the Mustang seats, overall the bike is great now.

Supremely torquey bike with character and handling. Tours well and even with a Pillion and luggage still handles great. A truly great bike.

The bike is very heavy when picking it up off the side stand but amazingly balanced when riding it. I have had 3 Harleys and this bike outstrips them in every department.
