In the story, Timmy accidentally voyages to a town house where he meets the home's occupant, a mouse named Johnny. Timmy tells Johnny all about his beloved countryside home and about how, when it rains, he hides in his burrow or pops up to watch the birds in the garden. Here we see him hiding from the rain under a leaf. There is excellent attention to detail on the texture and multi-toned colouring of the mouse's fur, as well as with the rain drop hanging off the leaf. Additionally, the little flowers by his feet make the piece very birght and appealing.
