“It looks and feels great, but sadly it has some major design issues.
My main issue is that the laptop compartment is located below the camera gear compartment, meaning that one has to remove the entire camera gear padded area to then access the laptop. This is made even more inconvenient by the fact that the main zip does not go "all the way" and so the camera gear compartment cannot simply be lifted up and out, but has to be pulled out sideways a bit before coming out.
I was under the impression that there would be some sort of zip or access from above so that one could slide the laptop in and out without opening the main zip around the edges of the bag. That one simple addition would make it much easier to use - I am hoping that this would be considered in the next edition of this bag.
Finally, the extra pockets are few and also seem to be in strange positions - it would be great to have one on the top "lid" for easy access while travelling - instead the only two external ones are placed directly against your back when carrying the backpack - not ideal for anything but paper / flat objections.
Having said all that it does look very beatiful and the materials and crafting are good, I will be using it for a while but I imagine that I will eventually upgrade to a more useful design at some point, and then I would use this backpack without the camera gear compartment.”

“A waxed canvas / oilskin camera bag in a well thought out rucksack format that works exceptionally well. This bag has to perform for me like a piece of hardened bushcraft gear, with a degree of water repellancy. So far it has done exactly that on mountain trails and coastline alike and it is a bag designed by someone who absolutely understands the demands of harsher outdoor weather for a photograper.
The best features are:
- A companion can unzip the bag while I wear it and select a lens without me needing to take it off. Essential for fast partner work.
- The waxed water repellency is excellent in the rain
- The hardwearing material, and the stitching is excellent
- Modifiable internal structure
- Back comfort and ventilation while carrying 7 lenses and a camera body
My only niggles are:
- The zips for a bag of this type should be YKK with water sealing. The current zip is durable, but not sealed.
- The internal compartment is aimed at larger DSLR or crop sensor size medium format lenses. I shoot with exceptionally small M-Mount lenses which dislodge from the internal compartment from time-to-time and tend to travel in the bag. Something to be aware of for people shooting on rangefinder systems or other smaller, compact systems.
I popped into Cotswold Hipster and met the owners for a great chat (and to buy more bags!). Mark even re-waxed my bag for me, which I greatly appreciated the next day at a very rainy Black Country Museum. I trust this bag to keep my lenses dry; not many bags can make that claim, be as versatile, be as durable or be so easy to use even in inclement weather and mud trails.
My gear goes through an absolute battering, and I need the bag to be battered more than anything else - especially its contents. If you're an outdoor photographer you NEED this bag.”
