I have recently taken up chainsaw carving and was advised by an experienced carver about Echo chainsaws. It isn’t too heavy but seems robust and easy to use. I really like these machines.

Really pleased with my Echo chainsaw. Lightweight for the size (with 16 inch bar) so can use for long periods of time without tiring. Starts every time, and whilst not so important, stylish design whilst being robust for the job at hand. Could not recommend more highly.

I'm an intermittent user of chainsaws (only use when I cut a tree down and log it for a wood-burner) but have owned several from Stihl and Husqvarna (8 working saws at present although some are quite old). The Echo is a much better starter as the saw isn't being used on a daily basis, probably because of the bulb. It is perhaps a little under-powered compared to the equivalent sized Stihl engines that I own, but apart from that is well-built and has not let me down once, and has required no servicing other than the chain. I have two similar-sized Stihl saws, and to be completely honest, I do prefer to use the Echo, despite the slightly less power output, when using similar sized bar lengths. I would certainly look at buying another Echo in the future rather than Stihl or Husqvarna. Also I am not keen on the computerised route that Stihl and Husqvarna have gone down, which I suspect is as much about protecting their dealership network. I prefer to maintain my own saws.
