The 281 I have is used for carving work- I have an 8" cannon bar on it now and find it a light and handy detail saw. It has dramatically less grunt than the 361, which I have the same bar on, and it is definitely more vibration and a bit more 'plastic' than my ms150, but for the money it is a snazzy little saw. The last one I had needed a new oiler and chain brake, and I got stung by the price of the spare parts. But it did come from when Echo used to sponsor us at the APF, so can't really complain. There is a real gap in the market with Stihl and Husqvarna for quality small saws. The 201 and 150 are both expensive and Husky don't have any xp saws (with a back handle) below 50cc available in the UK. All the others are non-pro saws so Echo has an open goal really.

I bought this saw as an addition to my 2 CS280WES's and could not be happier. More power than it's predecessor with all it's good points. Real easy to start, both hot and cold with very little vibration and one of the lightest saws on the market. Great for chainsaw carving.
