I made contact with you as I had a dental emergency when my front tooth veneer failed and broke off. I was very grateful to you for fitting me in to see a locum dentist that afternoon. He was very considerate and decided to make me a temporary front tooth. In truth, I appreciate that such work is complex but throughout the process, he seemed to be guided to a large extent by the dental nurse. She was and is exceptional! She intervened repeatedly to assist him with technical advice which she put to him delicately. He was a very nice guy but I was surprised when he started selling me a gum consultation when my priority was obviously my missing front tooth! I left having paid around £280 for a temporary front tooth. On reflection over the weekend, I felt that the temporary really was not to a reasonable standard and contacted a friend who is a dentist in Surrey. I attended her surgery on the following Tuesday and had the temporary removed, further investigation and a new temporary fitted. I was previously a patient of Sarah Murphy and I know that she is no longer with the practice. I was booked in for next Monday with her replacement, also called Sarah I believe. I have subsequently cancelled this appointment, not in any way because I have doubts about her work. I just felt that I needed to take control of the situation. I really appreciate that providing cover all the time and dealing with emergencies is a challenge for any practice. My late father was a dentist and so I remain sympathetic to the issues you have to deal with. Regrettably I felt I was a little unfortunate on this occasion. I don't wish to make a huge fuss (although my three-day temporary front tooth turned out to be quite costly given the time it was in!). But as you asked for a review I wanted to be entirely honest with you about my experience and I hope that this helps you. Regards Gareth Jones

Lowest level of thoroughness experienced at a dentist

The welcome was excellent & the resulting filling was good but unfortunately the treatment process was disappointing. I had another rather unpleasant choking spasm which unfortunately is not something I can help or control but I’m not convinced that the suction during drilling was adequate which may have initiated It. My tongue was caught by the drill in a few places & I was in a lot of discomfort & unable to eat properly during the weekend. The dentist did point out that my tongue was cut & I did say don’t worry about it at the time however I didn’t realise how much swelling & discomfort I would experience afterwards. An almost intolerable amount of downward pressure was exerted on my right jaw which contributed to the eating difficulties I experienced afterwards. Sorry to be so negative but I feel that I ought to be honest.
