“All aspects were good, with one exception - the tone of the email providing welcome details and instructions was disappointing, the language used regarding arrival and departure times felt harsh and did not leave us feeling confortable, a 'softer' tone and approach would have been preferable.”

Dear Richard, thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry you felt the information in the pre-arrival email was disappointing - that certainly isn't intended. With the exception of sections; where the keys, parking, and wifi information, the rest of the email is a template used for all properties, and the feedback from other reviews is that the information was very good, clear, and detailed. “We booked our cottage at very short notice and I needed to contact customer service by phone for a quick query to check if 2 dogs could be accommodated (Web site said 1 only). The reply from Chloe was very quick and efficient. I would thoroughly recommend this company for anyone booking a short break. The property was very well equipped, comfortable, clean and warm. A nice welcome pack of groceries was in the pod and included chocolates and shortbread - a very nice touch.”

“I received a call from Adam before we were due to stay at Garth Cottage. He informed me of an incident that had happened during other tenants stay the week before ours. Adam updated me via telephone calls on a regular basis of the situation. This service was excellent and felt assured that the situation had been resolved. This is the first time I have booked through Herdwick Cottages and will do again and hopefully it will be for this year (2024).”

“The service from the staff at Herdwick cottages was brilliant. They helped us to find the perfect new years accommodation for our group which included a very young baby. We stopped at the Haven in Ambleside, it was a beautifully presented accommodation with plenty of space and decorated to a very high standard. Pubs and shops on our doorstep and stunning walks. We loved every minute.”

“The staff at Herdwick Cottages were a pleasure to deal with. I found them to be very pleasant, informative and polite when I had a couple of queries regarding our booking. I received a call 2 days prior to our stay, to confirm that I had received the necessary information relating to our accommodation. Excellent communication from a first-class company. Looking forward to making another booking for a short break in February.”
