“I was very excited to try their reusable applicator since I had accidentally ordered a bunch of applicator-less tampons and was looking for a solution. Unfortunately though, they only sent me the the bag from the set and nothing else. I emailed customer service and they seemed like they were going to fix the issue and send out another, but then they ghosted me. The set was fairly expensive so it’s a pretty penny to lose to not receive my full order. May have to dispute the charge on my credit card. It’s too bad because it seems like a great product :/”
“The packaging isn’t tamper proof. Hoping it was just crushed in the mail and the box was crushed open.
The push part don’t fit/click into the the applicator and falls out and into the loo.
So disappointed. Stupid design.”
“Everything started great until the processing of the order. I was given an order confirmation order number, told my order was on the way after paying for 2-3 day shipping and nothing happened. Multiple attempts to reach customer service through their website went nowhere and I've still yet to receive my items. I never received a notice that they had even seen my attempts to contact them. The only way to submit a compliant is via their Contact Us page where there's no number to call. In retrospect, this should have been a clue that things were going to go wrong.
I had such high hopes given all the previous reviews and sustainability platforms rating DAME so highly and could not be more disappointed.”
“I ordered through NATURISMO.CO.UK and am currently on my period as I write this, and I really regret buying the dame tampons. The applicator is great and I almost didn’t buy it because of bad reviews, but my ‘body’ type would be a ‘small’ vaginal canal and I’m not that sexually active and I haven’t had any issues with the applicator. But this review is about the tampons.
I’m someone who tends to blindly buy and there was a free shipping cut off (I’m based in Italy) so I bought the tampons in bulk without ever having tried them. I thought: the reviews are great, they’re organic cotton (so they’re healthy for my reproductive organs) and I know tampons work for me, so win win. It’s also not my first time using 100% cotton tampons that are applicator free so I assumed I’d have a good experience like most of the other reviewers. I was wrong.
This is probably my FOURTH period cycle (yes fourth) where the DAME tampons absolutely do not work for me and I already wasted money on them and may just throw them away - all the remaining 60 to 100 of them I can’t count. Let me explain what has happened FOUR period cycles in a row.
It’s almost like my blood slides off the tampon and straight on to my pad beneath it. If this problem was isolated to me and happened with all tampons used within one day, I’d just think it’s my body anatomy/shape of my uterus causing it. What happens is: I check my pad while peeing, it’s full of blood. I then think “oh no my period’s so heavy today, thank God I saw this! So I remove the pad and pull out the “full” tampon, only to see that the tampon is perfectly white in the middle and only has blood on the sides. I then think oh wow that’s so strange… perhaps the tampon was either too big or too small? So I then use another dame tampon, and same problem. I then use the regular instead of the super size, same problem. It’s like the cotton doesn’t absorb my blood. Isn’t that what tampons and period products are supposed to do? I then thought maybe I’m inserting it wrong (even though this never happened with other tampons, truly, the only issue I’ve ever had was it feeling weird because I haven’t inserted it far enough, not this) and then tried to insert it laying down instead of standing in my bathroom. Same thing. And guys this has happened four months in a row. But magically, if i use a tampon from another brand after another failed dame tampon, my pad is not full of blood and when I do get increasing spotting and pull out the tampon, miraculously the tampon is full of blood, as it should be.
Just not worth the cash lost and the subsequent headache… Additionally/most importantly - this problem does not happen if i use a tampon from another brand (Ob organic tampons), which I am going to continue to use, after the fifth month in a row, on the first day of my period, where I have a pad full of blood and an almost clean tampon inside me. Make it make sense. I am now sitting here, writing this review, with an Ob tampon up me after removing a clean DAME tampon with a pad full of you know what. I’m really disappointed and will also contact customer services because that’s just ridiculous honestly. I’d add pictures but I’d probably be banned. I strongly don’t recommend (if you live abroad) since shipping is so expensive. But if you live in the UK you can try out ONE pack and do not bulk buy like me.”
Hi Adeola,
I'm so sorry you've not had a great experience with our organic tampons. As you can imagine this is absolutely gutting for us as we’ve not been able to provide the type of product you were expecting!
Please could you email hello@wearedame.co and our lovely customer service team can help you fix this, we'd love to be able to rectify the situation!
“Bought the reusable pads a while ago and really wanted to love them…while they are pretty comfortable they just don’t work for me. They keep moving around so much in my underwear and they don’t really seem to absorb any blood at all. I‘m not a particularly heavy bleeder, but the blood always collects on the surface of the pad and doesn’t get absorbed so it always feels wet. Very disappointed.”
Hi Clara!
I'm so sorry you've not had a great experience with our reusable pads. It sounds like you might potentially have our old version. If so I can send out a new replacement. We've re-designed the pads so that the black bit in the middle provides more coverage and the wings are wider to stop the pad from moving.
I have emailed you. Please let me know if you have any issues with the replacement and we can move forward with a different solution 💚
