8 years ago, we had a brand new Viessmann Vitodens 100-W system boiler for our central heating only. It went wrong within days and we had the plumber back fixing it 4-5 times over the first couple of months of having been in. After that, we had the plumber round at least twice a year, often more, with various faults and it never managed to heat the house properly even when working as it should. Eventually, we got tired of having such a useless boiler and had a new Vitodens 200-W system boiler installed just over a year ago. Not the combi, the commercial grade system boiler, only to run the central heating. Hot water has always been provided by the Aga (which has been working faultlessly throughout). I wish I had insisted on a different brand after years of suffering the 100-W. The new boiler started flashing a fault after less than 2 months. Bearing in mind it had been installed in the middle of the summer, this was its first actual use. It was fine on the first couple of days, but then came up with a fault. We had the plumber back more often than having hot meals with yet more fault codes flashing and the boiler not working. It spent most of the lockdown flashing fault codes, even through the summer. It hasn't worked for more than half an hour at a time for nearly 8 months. Bearing in mind it's only about 15 months old, that's pretty useless. I'm never ever having another Viessmann product for as long as I live. First one was bad enough and needed scrapping after just 7 years and the new one is even worse.

Hi Please could you email enquiries-uk@viessmann.com with your contact details so we can look into this for you asap? Kind regards Viessmann
i am looking to install a new combi boiler and am in the process of researching the various options. something i find worrying here is the corporate stock reply from veissman to poor reviews. clearly there's a problem with the control system being unfit for purpose but no solution is offered. just how many bad reviews does a company need to have before they take the appropriate action to fix the problem? these are clearly good efficient boilers but i'm not prepared to take the risk of having a control system i am unable to operate. has the control system been greatly simplified on the latest domestic models? furthermore, people are talking of a 10 year guarantee but, from what i have read, this seems to have been reduced to seven years in the uk. is this the case and if so why?

Hi, Thank you for taking the time to write your review. The control system has been updated on the Vitodens 200-W and all other domestic gas boilers in our range comes with documentation on how to work the control system. Alternatively, there is information provided on our website if needed. The 10 year extended warranty is offered across our Vitodens 100-W and 200-W range as long as the boiler has been installed by a Viessmann trained installer. The Vitodens 050-W comes with a 7 year extended warranty unless the installer you have selected has contract support from ourselves and can therefore offer a 10 year extended warranty. I hope this information helps and if you need any further assistance, please do not hesitate to get back in contact. Kind Regards, Your Viessmann Team email: enquiries-uk@viessmann.com
Our Vitodens 100 was properly installed and regularly serviced and worked fine at first. After a few years we find the heat exchanger and rubber pipe bungs up with debris each year, stops proper heating of water and results in error F2. It has to be dismantled and cleaned out every year. This is costly and we are often without full hot water. I understand this is probably a design fault and is rather common. Please publish if you have the same problem.

Hi Russell, Sorry to hear you are experiencing problems with your boiler and receiving the F2 fault. Can you please send your details to aftersales-uk@viessmann.com so this can be looking in to for you. Many Thanks, Viessmann.
I’m a viessmann trained installer fitted loads and have always recommended them , NoT ANYMORE . Fitted a vitodens 100 in my own home 3 years ago started to play up intermittent hot water expansion vessel failed. Phoned viessmann they say boiler was never registered , blamed Royal Mail said they never delivered the warranty told me Royal Mail shred them ? It was in a envolope with a stamp .? I asked if they would send me the parts and I would fit them myself , No ! I would need to register the boiler then book a engineers visit . In the mean time I have a expensive boiler not fit for purpose.

It hasn't made me happy paid £2400 for a new boiler on November 2018 said it was a Wich best Buy ??? I had an F2 fault 4 times till today 06/02/19 .Engineer called yesterday told me an overheat thermostat was faulty .There are non in the country and I have to wait till one is available .In the meantime if it faults again I have to go into the loft to reset it again. I am not happy.

My heating system packed up just as the cold spell was beginning. Despite three visits from my trusted installer, Tony, the fault couldn't be traced. It didn't seem to be the boiler or the thermostat, a new pump was fitted, a new valve and still the heating came on at random times for an hour or two, usually in the middle of the night. Finally, all options exhausted, Tony decided to call in a Veissman engineer. Gareth was brilliant. I was his last call of the day. He determined, after a thorough examination, that it wasn't the boiler, and although it was past his allocated time slot, he stayed on and tested other components of the system - and finally found in fault in the new valve that that been fitted. It was replaced the next day and everything is working perfectly. So two big brownie points for Veissman - the problem wasn't the boiler, which was working perfectly, and the engineer Gareth acted helpfully and successfully to find the real fault.

Did not satisfactorily answer my question regarding the Flow Sensor or what further measures could be taken to satisfy my enquiry. Just because an error is not shown does not necessarily mean the boiler is operating at its optimum design specification.

Replaced an old Potterton boiler with a Vitodens 100-W Combi 5 years ago, best thing I've ever done, and its now payed for itself. It's been running like a dream, halved my gas bill and electricity bill dropped by about 30% with the high efficiency pump. A lot of these reviews on here reflect the quality of installation, and not the boiler manufacturer, so always use a Viessmann Trained Installer, that's my little piece of advice.

Only had the boiler 5 years then we had no heating and no hot water we had a new circuit board put in and a few weeks later same problem Gas man came out said it was our new circuit board? 21/12/18 (cost £400) waited two weeks as it was the festive season (not the best time to be without hot water or heating and we are both pensioners) phoned gas man, said he got in touch with Viessman and they are going to sort it out (03/01/19) still waiting? I was told 2 years ago how good Viessmann boilers were. But of course every plumber has a favourite. However, more than one plumber told us about Viessmann, so we went ahead. For 2 years the boiler has been absolutely fantastic. We went for a Combi boiler, which did away with the hot water cylinder system. Great. Here comes the however. Oh!! I here you say. On Christmas eve the boiler did not come on first thing in the morning. Oh No!!! Contacted my plumber and he came out and suspected that the PCB was faulty. As the unit was covered by a 5 year warranty, he contacted Viessmann support team. This was around 9am and at 11am the Viessmann engineer was knocking on my door. Boiler was fixed before 12 noon. Things do go wrong with equipment, but if I can get service like that, I don't care. I would rather buy a product from a company with a good back up service, rather someone who does not consider the second sale or whether they will get recommended. I would 100% recommend Viessmann. Well done.

Reliable boiler, good service engineer

Very pleased with the service of the approved installer - quick to respond and thorough installation. I like the 10 year warranty and that the boiler has a variable burn rate, depending on the load.

If I could afford it I would have my new boiler removed and a different make installed

Our boiler needed attention before the warranty was up. Now it has broken down "over heating" = no hot water and no central heating ......... with an invalid husband. I have been bitterly disappointed.

Hi Eleanor, We are sorry to hear about the troubles you have been having with your boiler. Someone from our customer services team will soon try and contact you to ensure we understand what the issue is and whether we can provide support with an alternative installer if the product is outside its' warranty, or our own service engineer if it's under warranty. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Eight years ago, I bought the Vitodens 200W. Until now-with annual servicing by the installer all seemed to be going well. The last two summers I could turn the boiler off and depend on the Photovoltaic and solar panels on the roof for water and electricity. Wonderful. 4 weeks ago, there was a leak from the water tank-which was fixed. The boiler has not been able to start since then. 2 electrodes (I had to find them myself with difficulty_75 pounds I think- were replaced.) Now the motherboard-which will cost 700 pounds plus another 200at least to install. The boiler after 8 years is out of warranty. But what next? Can I trust it again? I am 78 and in a cold house for a month at the start of winter. I have lost trust in the boiler. What if something else goes wrong for more money? (This American notepad wont allow me to put pound signs.)

The new technology and build quality seem impressive and a welcome change to our old boiler, which was causing real problems after some 10 years use.

Hose /pipe in boiler tore and all water in boiler leaked into downstairs room. Boiler 20 months old and under extended warranty. Viesmann refusing to honour warranty. I am in my 70s and have no hot water from boiler as it is not working. I am a pensioner and can't afford yet another boiler. Very poor customer service. No regard for client
