“As soon as you walk into the Viceroy you receive a very friendly and warm welcome from all of the staff. The atmosphere is chilled with soft music in the background. The staff show you to your seat and make sure you are comfortable. The tables are set with quality cutlery, white cotton tablecloths and napkins and soft lighting.
Once settled they bring your menus and take your drinks ordered whilst you look at the menu. If you are unsure of what a dish contains they will take the time out to explain what is in the dish, if you have any allergies, how spicy it is and they will also adapt dishes to your preference. Nothing is too much trouble. All of the staff are excellent and polite, especially Freddie who ensures the smooth running of the restaurant and that attention to detail is maintained throughout! The food comes out hot and is presented on warm plates. Everyone's meals arrive at the same time. The staff check everything is to your liking and amend if not eg. too spicy. Nothing is too much trouble and they endeavour to ensure you have a pleasant experience at all times! There is a really good selection of dishes, meat, fish, vegetarian and the menu highlights what ingredients are in each dish. If you like a sweet treat to finish off your meal there is also a new selection of desserts which are very tasty and presented lovely. They also do a nice selection of coffees/drinks to sit and relax with at the end of your meal. The food is excellent value for money and you feel like you have had a really special experience. If you have a special occasion such as a birthday let the staff know and they will make do their best to help you celebrate it!! Overall just a really lovely lovely place to go for good food and a special night out!”
“Car parking is terrible. Disappointing service. Still eating our starter when hot food came, my husband and granddaughter had their starter snatched from under their nose. Mains put down in front of us. No time to sit and relax and let the starter go down. Very rude. Food was ok but not brilliant. Not sure I would go again.”
“Never coming back again. This has been a family favourite restaurant of mine for years, but tonight’s experience has made me vow to never come back again.
Food was good, despite having to send back four of the main curries for being cold. When these were sent back, I was asked to ‘check’ that they definitely were cold.
The service from that point was beyond appalling. Waiters were very rude and patronising. They couldn’t get us out of the place quicker. Which is bad business as we were a table of 9.
The highlight was when one of the waiters muttered ‘good riddance’ under his breath as we were leaving.
Having been a regular customer for years and having chosen this place as the main restaurant to show my in-laws visiting from America for the first time - I’m beyond gutted, but this is a warning to newbies and regulars, this place is not what it used to be!!”
“Although food very tasty, service very slow and staff rude. We booked for 6 people at 6.30. At 9pm we had finished our main course and were presented with the bill. When we asked to see the dessert menu and asked for another drink, we're informed that the table had been "resold" and no desserts were available. Very disappointing”

“We love food from the Viceroy. We usually get a takeaway and its always delicious. Whenever I have eaten in the restaurants the atmosphere is warm and lively and the staff have always been great and have gone the extra mile when it's been for a special occasion. Unfortunately I have a severe dairy allergy but the Viceroy always takes note of this and I have no issues with reactions at all. The best curry in the area.”
