“I ordered the plate as a surprise gift to my wife. But you sent a thank you txt for buying a plate. Which ruined my surprise to the wife. But otherwise price wise was good.”

Hi . The reason that the surprise was ruined is that the order was made in your wife's name. We are unable to guess telephone numbers to text confirmations so if you wanted us to be discreet then you should have used your telephone number and email address sorry.

Hi Peter, The registration KA04 THY was transferred to your car and we emailed you confirmation on the day of the transfer. this was the very same day you received the V5 from the DVLA. Your email confirmed the transfer had been completed and you should arrange to have new number plates fitted and to inform the insurance company. Im really not sure what other information you would require from us sorry.

“Very easy to deal with and you take care of everything. But I ordered a blank number plate and it came with your name and post code on the bottom. I should have bought the plate elsewhere. Other than that all Ok.”

Hi Paul. Thanks for your review, however we must explain that we are registered number plate suppliers with the DVLA and as a consequence, all acrylic number plates that our company dispatch must have 2 markings on them. Firstly, they must be be made to BSau145d British Standard and secondly they must have the suppliers name and post code on them. As you will see from images posted on this review site by other happy customers, those details are very small indeed but without them you would be displaying illegal number plates on your car.

Hi Alan, Im surprised by the fact that you mentioned that the plates weren't to a high standard as the ones we supply are from the suppliers to BMW and Jaguar. We would have preferred you to have contacted us with your grievance so that we could have arranged replacements for you if you weren't happy.

“The plate was registered 10 days early.which ruined the 30th birthday suprise even though I sent a letter with the documents as advised and made phone calls and paid extra for the fast turn around for the specific date didn't recive the call from who ever to find out what went wrong.”

Hi. We are really sorry that we transferred this "too quickly" for you. We do ask customers to send the documents in to us nearer the time that they want it completed as we are incredibly bust arranging transfers. A simple note explaining the date on which it is to go "live" is all we ask and then we are able to accommodate.

Hi Paul . Im sorry to here your plates are peeling but this is the first time we have heard from you since the plate was transferred in May. We can arrange a replacement pair if you could email us a picture of the fault.

We are absolutely astonished by this review. The customer purchased using "easy payments" on 22nd May. The finance company approved the application the following day and we posted the certificate as requested by recorded delivery to the customer who signed for it at 10.46 am on 26th May. He then called us that day and asked us to arrange the transfer and returned his certificate and V5 log book to us which we received today, Wednesday morning, 31st May and we completed the entire transfer to his car by 3.30 pm. Unbelievable !!!

“Very quick service, only one day! However was not notified that the process had been completed! This needs to be looked at, either sending an email out to the customer saying the change has been completed or even an automated text message. Also the 7 day period they say it will take needs to be reduced if it's going to be that quick.”

Thanks for the review. Our guarantee is to complete within 7 days. I have just checked your order and we completed the transfer within 24 hours of your documents arriving. We thought that you would have been delighted with that service. We also sent you an email confirmation the very same day so we are a bit confused.

“Ordered, paid, processed smoothly. New V5 received promptly; it was going so well. Plates arrived very quickly, I was very impressed. However, there was an incorrect letter on the plates. Sorry guys, gutted. Very disappointed to say the least. Resolved quickly, but damage done.”

Our suppliers made the plates incorrectly and so we arranged a replacement set that arrived the next day. We apologised for the mistake on behalf of the plate manufacturers and even managed to get them to the customer before the paperwork was completed by the DVLA.

“It wasn't made clear anywhere in the pre order process that I would need to pay an extra £6.50 for special delivery of my vehicle registration documents.Members of my family have purchased plates from another supplier where this service was included at no extra charge as well as including the cost of making the new plates and sending by 1st class post.I had to pay an additional £20 to have the plates made up for me.This has meant that the cost compared to an alternative company is £23 more expensive. In addition despite making it quite clear in the pre order process that I wished The Private Plate Co to administer the transfer via the DVLA for me,I was very surprised to receive a letter stating the opposite and that as I had decided to make the transfer myself then without The Private Plate Co help then this process might take anything up to 28 days to complete.As I had already sent by special delivery my documents to The Private Plate Co I became anxious and had to e-mail asking for confirmation that this was indeed an error as well as enquiring if the vehicle documents had been received and were being forwarded to DVLA.....as initially requesting. All in all this has not been a hassle free process and also not the most competitve deal in the marketplace today. On a positive note,once confirmation was received that the letter had been sent in error as well as the documents being received then the turn around has been very quick. Just a shame my confidence in the company to operate without any hassle has lead to a less than positive review.”

We are sorry that we didn't meet your expectations, however looking at the facts, we arranged the complete transfer to your car within 6 working days even after you chose the transfer option 2 days after making the original purchase which is why you had the certificate sent to you in the first instance. We couldn't have arranged this any quicker and feel your 3 star review in no way reflects the level of service you have received from us. We ask customers to send the V5 registration document to us by Special Delivery because if it goes missing by standard first or second class mail you would need to arrange a replacement which would cost £25 and take up to 6 weeks to replace by DVLA. We feel spending £6.45 to ensure delivery the next day is well worth the expense and guarantees our 7 working day turnaround. On the subject of acrylic number plates, you declined the offer to purchase them from our company during the order at a cost of £20 plus VAT which included postage and packing, in favour of arranging them yourself at a higher cost.

It never ceases to amaze us that no matter how many times we explain that old documents are of no use to use, some customers still claim that they do not have the newest V5 only to find the new ones once the DVLA has rejected the application. This application was completed within "eleven" days EVEN after receiving old documents submitting them to DVLA and then re-submitting with the correct ones once found by the customer. So all in all, we don't consider this to have been a failure on our part in any way
