The course was thorough and in depth but I could have done with a few more modules on lesson planning and ideas for teaching those for whom English is a second or third language. I feel like the emphasis was on grammar.

Thank you for your feedback. The 120 hour Professional TEFL course does include a whole module on lesson planning but if you would like further help with lesson planning, I would recommend the 150 hour Advanced TEFL course which contains an additional 'Lesson Planning Plus' module. Please feel free to email us should you need any help.

The course was fine, but contained less content than I was hoping for. Nevertheless, it covered all the basics.

I found the course engaging enough, although a little dry in some places. My daughter did your course several years ago now, and while some additions may have been made, the basic core material is unchanged and needs a visual refresh. I think that as technology moves on so quickly, recorded videos and styles change rapidly and your website and video presentation lack a modern, youthful eye-catching 'trendiness' making them begin to look dated. And I will add that I am a mature learner, not a 20-something. So I think for your younger target market, it must look a bit lame. I found the Business module better in presentation, detail and content that the Core modules. In the core modules questions were sometimes asked when that particular content had not necessarily been covered. Finally, I also think it should be made clear that the end of module tests are ACTUALLY the 'final' tests. I know that there were 'in-module' trial questions, and I realise that the 'end of module tests' were just that. However, I still thought that my actual certificate would be earned after a big, FINAL test. Therefore, when completing my module tests, I wasn't always that bothered about my answers, and would have been far more careful (and maybe passed with better than 'pass') if I had known that they were the final tests. Other than that, I enjoyed the course. I hope though, that you are currently building an update on the materials and their presentation.

I felt like the course was ok. I felt like the course content itself was very thorough and accurate, and easy to understand and follow. The structure was good. However, the course itself was basically just many pages of text, which I didn't find super engaging and I don't retain information well like that. In contrast, other courses (non-TEFL) I have done have been made up of mostly videos and presentations which I find much easier to follow and remember content from. There were some videos in this course, however, they were only a minute long usually, and the speaker was obviously memorising a very specific script and it sounded very scripted so these weren't engaging at all for me, and didn't include any visuals or detailed explanations. They were just introductions to the next topic. I found the quizzes and tests after each topic very useful. I think some activities related to trying to make your own lesson plan I think could be useful. Or more difficult questions related to grammar. I completed the 120-hour course, and am spending time now that I have started teaching English online, going through my notes and the course again to review grammar. It's great to be able to do that. However, I would also quite like to find another course to do that has more engaging video content to help solidify my grammar knowledge. I suppose a lot of being a teacher is self-study of grammar as well, however, I would love to do a course that gives me this extra level of support.

Yes I studied and completed two certificates but when I’m applying for vacancies that’s are available on the website I don’t get any feedback, wondering if this jobs are even real. I’m not really happy with that.

Thank you for your review. We do also have more advanced courses than the 120 hour professional course :)

While I found the videos informative, they were very dated and extremely dry. What I largely took from them was how I do NOT want to structure a class! Otherwise, decent baseline information to start the journey.

Hi Amanda. Sorry to hear you feel that way about the videos. We are constantly working on keeping the information and videos current and will be adding some new videos soon.

Informative course and very detailed in certain areas. I would say geared towards more adult learners and doesnt really give you a detailed overview on how to teach children/ young learners. Which is the age group I wanted to teach.

Thank you for your review. The course does include a section on teaching children but we will be adding more young learner specific focused courses shortly.

I appreciated the TEFL UK course, and I do think there are many things that can be done to improve it. There are a few videos placed often at the start of modules and units. It would be nice to have more videos. Many people learn better by watching lectures, rather than reading course materials. I would recommend having much of the course available through short video lectures. The course also included example videos with people teaching classes. I thought many of these example videos were too long. It would be better to cut them into short snippets, with complementing information and questions about the examples. I would also recommend TEFL UK update the entire course, making it more user friendly. Thank you!

Hi Timothy! Thank you for your review. We have recently added much more video content to the courses but are always thinking of ways to improve our content where possible so will definitely look into your suggestions. Thanks again.

- The course was a little too text-heavy in some units. It almost became tedious to continue studying, and I think this could be avoided by including more varied material (videos/images/diagrams etc.) We are taught in the course to consider students with different learning styles, so why isn’t this represented in the course itself? - Given that it’s a course on teaching English, I was surprised to notice quite a lot of typing and grammar mistakes littered throughout the text. At times it came across as quite unprofessional, and in turn marred my perceived quality of the course. - There were times when I felt like I was reading the same information again and again. I think the content could be edited to avoid this. - I found the end of module tests to be quite weak. The questions were copied directly from the end of unit tests, meaning I didn’t feel at all challenged upon finishing each module. I was also surprised at how few questions were included in the tests. - The course had a good range of information and the website was easy to use.

Hi Benjamin! Thank you for your review. We recently upgraded the courses to include lots more visuals, videos etc but would happy to review them again and ensure we are keeping all students with different learning styles as engaged as possible. Please can you email us to let us know where the errors were so that we can investigate? info@tefluk.com We have tried really hard to ensure that the tests are challenging enough and that our students enjoy the course so that they can retain the information in order to make them feel confident moving forward in their TEFL career. Thanks again :)

I liked the units as they felt relevant to teaching! The questions were good to test but having the unit test have the same questions made it easy to pass.

It was a self- study, but I did not find it particularly engaging. I definitely think there should have been more of a focus on linguistics and how different language learners might make certain mistakes based on linguistic background.

Very straightforward and easy to follow. Many of the practice questions were in the unit tests so I did not feel particularly challenged by this.

I have 12 years of ESL teaching experience, but I needed to get the certificate. It took me three days to complete the 120 hour course. I'm terrible at mathematics, but something doesn't seem right. In any case, there is always something to learn and its useful to review things.

The course was fairly enjoyable and straightforward. My eyes were opened to the important aspects of TEFL teaching, and some of the things I need to work on as I look to become a TEFL teacher. At times, the course was quite dry because it was almost entirely just reading. I think the tests were maybe a little bit too easy, too. The course could be improved with more interactive activities, more engaging tests at the end of units, and some more videos of actual classroom teaching to provide context for what is being taught; in smaller chunks, rather than showing entire lessons after several pages of text. I don't know how much I will actually remember from this course, but it will be a nice reference point when I do actually start TEFL teaching.

Helpful for someone with no teaching experience. Not difficult, and the curriculum is easy to follow and logical. Thanks

I find the TEFL UK course very interesting as a skill to achieve, although I think it could be a little bit more enjoyable with less content to read and more to practice.

This course was mostly blocks of text to read and some simple tests at the end of each block. There were often spelling mistakes, and the way the information was presented is very dull. However, much of the content seemed relevant and helpful, although simply reading to complete a course will not embed the knowledge of TEFL permanently.

It’s a really cheap way to get the qualification you’re looking for. However, I found that most of the content was relatively dull due to bad presentation, which at times made it hard to focus on and get through. It is just a wall of text on each page, and I think it would have benefitted from a mixture of text, video tutorials of the material (not just videos example lessons), images like flowcharts, etc. Also, for a U.K. based TEFL provider it felt like it was written by an American at times. Still, while I haven’t had the experience of another TEFL a company to compare it to, I’d say it was decent enough to earn the certificate I was looking for.

I found the grammar section a bit of a headache as I was taught very little formal English grammar at school. (I learnt more grammar in French class than English!) However, after that section it was pretty easy. It could be presented in a much more engaging way (some sections contain endless writing) but it got me to where I wanted to go (online teaching), it's accredited in the UK (unlike some other courses) and was inexpensive.
