“I am very happy that I took a course under TEFL. I learned a lot througout the course and I can say that it exceeded my expectation. This is very helpful and useful for everyone who is aspiring to to be a great teacher even they have not initially studied any teaching course.”

“Overall, the grammar course was excellent. It reviewed important grammar points that even experienced English teachers forget as they are so elementary to native speakers. This part of the course was helpful, but many of the pedagogical courses were very rudimentary. If you already have a background in teaching, much of this course feels repetitive. It might be nice to offer different courses based on how much prior knowledge each person has about teaching. As for my specific tutor, I did not have a good experience. On the first assignment, I got feedback that was rather condescending, and I had a few questions about their response as what they commented on didn't seem to match what the question was asking. I decided to email my tutor asking a few questions, and they responded with a rather disrespectful email saying I clearly didn't read their answer carefully and still didn't answer my question. I reiterated my question again in a follow up email, but then was again treated rather rudely by my tutor. After that point, I decided not to reach out to them for the rest of the course and informed them I no longer would be communicating with them via email. I don't know if their response was intentionally disrespectful, but the tone and word choice was belittling and condescending. When I mentioned that I felt this way to them in the second email, they entirely brushed off what I said. Overall, I found the course fine, but it would have been a lot more informative if I could have felt comfortable reaching out to my tutor for feedback and help. The tutor's actions really put me off of this program.”

“I really enjoyed the quality of this online program. The lessons were clear and demonstrative, it was never too burdensome in belaboring the points. I do have two critiques: 1. the written assignments - it would be nice if the ways in which they are assigned was more standardized. I messed one up a few times because I was targetting the wrong education level. A table with the important contextual information was used for the final assignment, and I found it much clearer than any previous one 2. video playback settings - I had to go into the web code and modify video speed manually. I personally watch most things at 1.5-2x speed, but with these videos there are long sections where not much is going on. It would be nice to be able to speed along.”

“Excellent presentation of lessons, well written assignment instructions, excellent response of grading tutor. My only suggestion is that you add a video (at least one) for the Teaching Large Classes course. After watching instructors teach very high level students in small class settings, it was extremely difficult to extrapolate this information to create a viable lesson for a large class. Regardless of the amount of instruction on how to organize for teaching in this environment (which was plentiful!), an actual presentation would have made all the difference... especially to a visual learner such as myself or someone who has never set foot in a classroom, let alone been charged with presenting information to 60 teenagers(!) Please help future students by providing a video for this course.”

“The course is a perfect consolidation of ‘English Grammar’ and the ‘methods of teaching’. By doing TEFL, I got an opportunity to ‘revive’ and ‘refresh’ my knowledge of the language, and apparently got to know the most innovative ways to teach.”
