My policy ran out by 6 days by mistake of renew date my fault , When renewed I wanted to add another car but to do this was given a price of just under £32 If I had renewed last week before policy ran out I would only of had to pay an extra £5 seeing as I still renewed with you you could have honoured this as this would have been excellent customer service .

Cheapest quote by far so I tried to buy online. However, it couldn't match my car and registration (seems to be recognised by all other companies though!) so had to phone in. They changed their records and said try again. Same thing happened so I phoned again only to be told the change hadn't worked but I could buy whilst on the phone. Went ahead only to be told price was nearly 50% more than online quote. After a bit of argy-bargy I was eventually charged the same as online so went ahead and bought. The buying process that followed was straighforward but too much hassle leading up to it. I just hate websites that won't let you do what they're supposed to do! Grrrrhh

Hi, I was about to ring you as I thought I had renewed my policy, no. START/115008, last night on line. I was expecting confirmation of my renewal, and to show my new policy dates. However, it is still showing up as policy expired - please advise as to status. Thank you

Entered the 10% discount code and it was accepted by the site. When it came to pay, it removed the discount code and made me pay the full sum. I couldn't reverse it

I have called out start rescue once (this year) and the mechanic was very helpful although he couldn't effect a repair he followed me home to make sure I made it ok. My real gripe though is this. My partner who is also with start rescue called them when she felt her brakes were not working properly and making a strange noise. The mechanic came out to her location (the Asda at Minworth, Birmingham) He could see nothing wrong, took the car a drive around the Asda carpark and said he thought it should be ok to drive home. When she got home she was in a bit of a state has she said the car was worse than before. I drove the car and was able to tell what the problem was straight away, brake pads were worn down to the metal on the off side front wheel. I was shocked and dismayed that the mechanic could not see this and still allowed her to drive home with defective brakes. It's not big and it's not clever..

Had to wait nearly 2 hours when I last used the breakdown service. When I tried to renew my policy the website wouldn't let me so I sent an email asking what I could do and to reply via email. I had 3 missed phones from yourselves even though I said reply by email. When I did answer the phone I again advised you I couldn't take calls. An hour later you rang me again, not happy. Eventually managed to renew online only to find it hadn't give me the 10% off, now been sorted.

I renewed my policy early. Soon after, I received a letter offering me a 10% discount if I renewed. No mention of a discount was made when I renewed.

I wanted a policy to cover a period other than 12 months. I asked about 7 months and 19 months to align to my other car policy. You said you didn't and wouldn't do it. Clearly too tricky to divide a premium by a given and sum and change start date.

I purchased online & once I put in my password with my card an error came up. Money was taken from my account but no email. I called yourselves following day to be told that even though payment had been taken, no breakdown cover had been had been put in place. The advisor was very helpful & set up cover but this should not have happened.

Having bought the insurance, I was expecting some sort of acknowledgement from you. I could get the answer from your web but should have automated answer! May be I am expecting too much from a company like you!

I was offered a 10% discount for renewing for another year. When I renewed the policy online I entered the appropriate code and the renewal price was reduced by 10%, however, when I proceeded to submit payment the original amount was taken from my credit card. Not impressed!

Customer service line was fine with helpful staff. What really annoyed me was the web site, which didn't allow me to take off Personal cover on line when it came to renewing my policy as I was now driving only 1 vehicle. This felt intentionally dishonest of the company and one shouldn't have been forced to ring up to do this.

From first contact with yourselves at 07.08, then receiving a text at 07.24 that Weston Recovery would arrive by 08.23, then having to ring you again at 08.31 because Weston Recovery had not arrived apparently due to traffic, Weston Recovery final rang at 08.50 for directions and arrived at 08.55. Which meant that it took 1hour and 47 minutes, which for us is not acceptable and had we realised that the nearest company to us that you use is Weston Recovery which is in fact at Shepton Mallet which is nearly an hours drive away from where we live, so no wonder it took so long to get someone to us, we would not have renewed with yourselves.

All emails/letters sent for renewal notice not one gave any indication of cost. Lucky to have my renewal this year

The only time I needed help was when I was stuck on the road verge in soft ground. Apparently this was not covered by my policy, so I was left stuck. In the past the RAC have rescued me from a similar position

cannot rate as i did not have to use the breakdown service. however when i renewed my cover i had two e mails one thanking me for the changes i had made ? the other e mail thanked me for taking out a policy ? not impressed!

This is a really frustrating website. It isn't properly compatible with IE so I had to cancel everything I'd entered and load Firefox as there wasn't a 'pay now' button loading in IE. Also, I had to reset my password even though I didn't set one the first time around - like give me an option to do it the first time or don't presume I can just log in when I don't have a password, that's just counter productive.

Startrescue website needs bit of up-dating, methinks! Apart from continuously losing web page, pop-up advertising kept blotting the page. Had to apply for Breakdown Cover on this site TWICE. Took me an eternity to complete form but once money transactions took place it became far simpler and straight forward. Sending of confirmation email was immediate which was most pleasing as I wondered if maybe my Breakdown application was circling in cyber-space!

Initially you sent me an email offering 10% discount off a further policy with yourselves - however it didn't tell me what the cost would be! You then posted me the same information but with no prices. I emailed your customer services and quickly received a response telling me the cost would be £31.91. I was pleased with this so went back to the original email and followed the instructions for renewal. Here the price quoted to me was £36+ and nowhere could I find where I could put in the code for my 10% discount. Seeing that your HELP number was 0845 objected to the fact I would be charged for the call as a premium number. So having sent a further email requesting you to contact me on the phone a very nice young lady was extremely helpful and apologetic for the problems I had encountered and immediately put the transaction through for me. In a few months time the other car we have is due for renewal with you - hope next time that I no longer face the same problems. Nadine Peakall

I couldn't get the site to accept my password so couldn't complete the application. Also had to go to the AA to supply me with a single days insurance going to France in my 11 year old Jag.
