I'm happy with the end product, but the pain of dealing with Sharps - their pathetic, inept customer service, their miserable surveyor, the installer I had to tell to leave my property he was so rude - were really not worth it and I'm pretty sure you could get the same quality for less money if you shopped around. Honestly, save yourself the frustration and go elsewhere.

We have had designers from Sharps to design a bedroom and an office. The bedroom designer took six hours one evening ! In both cases they were instantly dismissed as unworkable by their surveyor. They give up with the office design and gave us our deposit back. 'The computer says no' was their response, they are incapable of thinking out of the box. Don't forget they do not have backs to the wardrobes and they leave all their rubbish at your house. A three fit took five days. Never again will I use this company.

Apologies if this is a bit long-winded but I feel the need to let people know about our experience with Sharps, as we thought we were paying extra for a higher level of service and workmanship. We were wrong. Hopefully, it’ll be worth the read to the end for someone. We had a small storage room fitted out as a walk-in wardrobe. It cost £2700, which was apparently half-price due to the current sale. Sharps rep who did the quote for us told us that there would be a more detailed, laser survey so that the pieces cut be prepared off-site. This survey was done, but what turned up was certainly not pre-cut to suit the room. Everything was fine with the delivery of the materials, but there was far too much, and it was all in standard, off-the-shelf pieces. So what was the point of the laser survey? Installation – this went OK, although upon inspection, it seems that the high level of professional craftsmanship advertised wasn't there. I had to contact Sharps a day or so later to point out that there were half a dozen or so areas where the installation wasn't exactly done properly – there are exposed sharp corners, shelves that aren’t parallel, gaps between elements etc. Also, we were told to remove the carpet in the room prior to installation as fitting directly onto floorboards would ensure that an exact fit would be obtained at the ceiling line, something which couldn’t be guaranteed if the carpet was left as it would compress, creating a gap at the top. So I removed the carpet. And the first thing I spotted after the installation was – gaps at the top! And I had to re-fit the carpet myself after that. Most of these are small and at a push, ignorable, but it is very annoying to have paid so much money for the high-quality workmanship previously associated with Sharps, to then get a much more bog-standard level of service. Essentially, it was slightly, although not much, better than a job I could have done myself, given the tools. Edging – our wardrobe is in one of those areas where the roof slopes down, meaning that there were several angled cuts to be done. Wherever this was the case, the veneer on the material was chipped off on the outside, visible edge. It’s only a couple of mm or so, but it’s visible at nearly every edge. Material – the wardrobe is made from fairly cheap standard veneered chipboard. Don’t go expecting high-quality wood for your wardrobe – you won’t get it. This use of low-standard material is to blame for the edging problems mentioned above. Drawers – the rep asked us if we wanted drawers instead of a couple of shelves. We said yes, even though the extra cost was another £440 (for 4 drawers, so £110 per drawer. And this was half price so full price is £220 per drawer). They are tiny. Ridiculously so – barely big enough for a few pairs of socks. And as they came as a flat-pack kit, there was no craftsmanship involved in putting them together. Essentially, I paid nearly £450 for some mini-Ikea standard drawers. Not happy about that at all. After-sales service – upon mentioning all of the issue above to customer services, they did initially arrange for an installation manager to come out and inspect the wardrobe. He came, took photos, and generally agreed with everything that I pointed out. And then he left. It’s now nearly 3 weeks later and we haven’t heard anything back from Sharps. I’ve contacted them several times but have only managed to find out that the installation manager hasn’t done or submitted his report yet so they can’t do anything. In summary – not as good quality build-wise, material-wise or customer-service-wise as we had been led to believe and hoped, and certainly not worth the money. Would have accepted the numerous deviations from the ideal that they promote if the price was a lot lower. A LOT lower. Since originally composing this review a couple of weeks ago, Sharps have attempted to make some amends. They sent an installer out to re-fix 3 of the pieces of the wardrobe and put some sealant around most (but not all) of the edges, which has improved the overall appearance of the wardrobe. They also offered my £300 compensation, but even taking this into account, the service and product provided still do not come anywhere near representing good value for money. They refused to do anything about the ridiculously small drawers, stating that they “are the size they are and that’s it”. It’s a shame because you can see that, given better materials and more time to do a proper job, the installers would have been able to give us something really nice. Instead, I just am left considering myself to have been ripped off to the tune of £1000 or more.

From start to finish, girls in store great, helpful and knew their stuff, the visit from the guy who planned and priced the job, rubbish, he was rude and didn't want to be there, told me I couldn't have what I wanted which was sliding doors so got him to stay and plan out fitted doors which he wasn't impressed about, he made me feel like I lived in rented accommodation and couldn't afford their product, I rang him later to say I would proceed with the job then had someone else come and measure, then the fitter arrived which was a mission he complained he didn't have enough room, what a mess, why can't they cut outside on a dry day? The finished product looks nice but poor materials used and never worth the price, would I have them to do anymore word, one word NO

This is the 2nd wardrobe we have had fitted by Sharps, the first we were very pleased with the second we wished we never had. The installation Manager came out to inspect the second wardrobe, the filling was entirely different to first. We were told that the second one was the correct way of building and the first one was not. We only had second one build as we were so please with the first, if it had been the other way round we would have NEVER had the second one. The 2nd fitter complained that the room was too small for him to work in (it is exactly the same as the first room and that fitter did not have a problem), he left makes on newly plastered and painted walls and ceilings. So as you can see we are not very pleased at all.

I decided to give sharps a try despite them not having exactly what I wanted, but then none of the wardrobe companies do! The salesman/designer was very polite and informative. However my expectation was not met. I thought by having somebody round to give a quote, I would get just that. But in order to take advantage of all of the discounts I had to sign up there and then without any drawings. When I explained that I needed time to think and see the other quotes, he accepted my decision and left. He left me a card, but no written quote, so I have no way of comparing this with others. I have since tried to retreive this quote by phoning and emailing, but still have nothing a month later! This has made me sure that I would not use this company. He spent almost 2 hours in my house and I have nothing. They also passed my details on to Thomas Sanderson, who started phoning me!

Further to my previous slating review, I went ahead with sharps after a discounted price. To be fair the fitter whom is self employed was excellent, the designer also good as were the delivery team..... though they did cause serious damage! I like other customers are still waiting on the remnants being picked up. its now day 8 and still no communication form sharps. It seems to be very hit and miss with this company but don't believe what they tell you, nothing is cut to measure its all done in your house, dust, mess and noise....constant.

Very disappointed with a number of aspects of this company. I initially approached them as I liked their sliderobes and had limited space for conventional doors. I was also led to believe their furniture was bespoke. Well I couldn't have the sliding doors it seemed, as apparently they needed an extra 3" depth of cupboard, and the only 'bespoke' element seems to relate to fitting cupboards under a sloping ceiling. The quality of the carcasses is not great and seems no better than the very basic cut price range we fitted 30 yrs ago and were replacing. We were dismayed to discover that we were expected to do all the preparatory work ourselves of removing the old wardrobes. But our biggest shock came when the fitter announced the job was complete - we couldn't believe it when we saw that the wardrobes were fitted against raw plaster walls, the rails screwed directly into plasterwork at one end, with an area of brick and rubble where 30yrs ago skirting board had been removed. There were NO INTERIORS to the cupboard units! I was furious but as we were due to receive house guests within 72hrs and I had to have the contents of the cupboards back in situ promptly, we spent the whole of the next day poly filling and wallpapering the inside, a fiddly job because of the many shelf divisions. Why had the designer not highlighted this? In retrospect I recalled he had run through a check list which included 'backs' and 'sides' which I had visualised as external aspects of the furniture, and had in my mind's eye the wardrobe so nicely displayed in the showroom which incorporated a fully lined interior - and which our very basic pre-existing wardrobes had. Doesn't every wardrobe? I ordered wardrobes, not cupboards. So thanks, Sharps, for the set of doors and shelves you sold us, the work you left us with, the stress, and the massive disappointment. All for the bargain price of under £5000.

My experience using Sharps to fit a range of bedroom furniture has been very mixed. The visits by the designer and surveyor went well enough; and the delivery was extremely prompt and efficient. The job was estimated to take 3 days; but despite the fitter's best efforts and really hard work it ran into a whole forth day, with him finishing at 7.30 on a Sunday evening. But, as Sharps pay for the work on a piece-rate, he will still only be paid for the 3 days. Then there are the Admin staff. So called Customer Service. I would say "Sharps by name, sharp by nature". Payments are demanded up front / on immediate completion, reducing the customer's strength of argument with lingering issues. There was never any discussion regarding disposing of the mountain of waste. How do you get wardrobe doors in the back of a car? And the misunderstandings and errors could easily have been avoided by the surveyor bringing a computerised design for the customer to review. I could never recommend this company. And to add to all of this, the furniture is basically expensive saw-dust.

The materials used were not of the quality we thought we were getting. We had to ask for better fittings commensurate with the price paid. Definitely not value for money! It took several weeks and many, many phone calls, to get excess material and waste removed. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

A week ago i left very positive comments regarding the overall service we received from Sharps. However, i regrettably have to downgrade that review as to the post-installation/after sales service. On conclusion of the fitting the Fitter advised me he had ordered removal of the rubbish but it turned out he had not done so. Several increasingly irate phone calls later i am still waiting- Sharps tell me they use an outside Company with a 72 hour window for removal - nearly two weeks later i am still waiting. Thy have ruined what was until then an excellent service by very shoddy after sales service. There was no phone call asking if we were satisfied either. Sharps need to buck up their ideas post-installation.

It took 4,5 days to fit 3 wardrobes. CAD drawings were not available, installer asked for these 3 times, they never appeared, so doubt if they were every done for my order. On day 2 an Installation Team Leader called and confirmed 2 large panels were missing, he would order for delivery next day and would follow up on CAD drawing. This did not happen, he did not place the order and CAD did not appear - not efficient. Installer was excellent, trying his best to work on the initial drawings done by the designer. Would definitely NOT recommend Sharps.

I cannot fault the design and survey portion of my overall experience - kudos to both "engineers". However when it came to the actual installation and finished product, to say I was extremely disappointed is an understatement! One fitter was only allowed 2 days to fit a complete bedroom, two and a half wardrobes, four-drawer chest of drawers and a free-standing bedside cabinet. This time was completely inadequate - and the fitter didn't arrive until lunchtime on the first day and had to stay until 8.30pm on the second to finish because he was obligated to another job the next day. He didn't accompany me to inspect the finished product and when I did so after his departure I found that he had damaged my skirting board and chipped paint off my newly decorated walls. But worse than this, the inside of the wardrobes were littered with debris (sawdust-like material) and a large portion of the floor of one wardrobe was damaged - hastily repaired with a filler substance that is very noticeable. I feel that the price I paid was high and the quality of the finished product certainly did not reflect this. Mrs Christina Ann Williams

Many years ago we had a fantastic set of wardrobes fitted by Sharps. hence our return for a set in our new house. The initial fitter made numerous mistakes including; doors misaligned, shelves too narrow, rails too high to be usable, glue on the coving joins and left a lot of mess. Sharps immediately sent a surveyor who agreed that it was a shoddy job and arranged for the wardrobes to be sorted out. While we waited for this our room was unusable which was very inconvenient over Xmas and the house refurb schedule got behind. The second filter also made mistakes: shelves not the same height, shelves too narrow and holes left in the wall. I had to contact Sharps again. The surveyor arrived again and agreed that work still needed to be done. By this time we had had to stand the builder down and more delays were caused as he had to start other work elsewhere. With each contact I felt increasingly sidelined - emails stopped being answered and actions promised in phone calls were not followed up. Finally after over 3 months the wardrobes have been properly fitted. We expected a much better service from Sharps - we were offered no 'sweeteners' for our inconvenience and did not even receive a courtesy call to ask us if we were now happy with our purchase.

Would never use Sharps again or recommend to anyone. Poor customer service from start to finish, 1 no show on the initial consultation and 2 no shows on the installation. Fitters won't take any rubbish or left over wood away from the property!

Had a study fitted with Sharps. Although Sales process was very efficient, once the contract is signed the attention is not there anymore. First they pushed firward the delivery week with one week notice (I work so I am not that flexible). Then the fitter realized part of the delivery was missing. Has been sent to me with DHL but one day after the fitting was completed - so I refused to pay. Then Sharps forget about you for a little bit... Rings you sometimes to ask if you are in at lunchtime (again, I am at work). Once it worked for me so I got back home and waited for 5hrs for nothing. Called back to re-arrange, told I wouldn't be available the next couple of weeks as on holiday abroad, to make a note so someone could call back with an appointment date in the future. Got 2 calls to see if I was available in the afternoon while I was away! Now agreed a date but received a letter reminding me of the balance... Oh and quality - fitting very good but quite disappointing veneer quality. Summary - Sharps is great for retired people. If you are active it won't work for you

We had them install two wardrobes from their walk in wardrobe range. We also had a built in cupboard inside an alcove. They lead you to believe that they are custom designed for you however upon initial consultation we asked for the top shelf to be full width of the walk in section and no central support. The salesman did not state this may be an issue. The paperwork was sent off and when the surveyor came, again this point was not raised. The fitter came and unbeknown to us, the design team at manufacturing has added in a middle upright because apparently this has to be there. No one thought to contact us to let us know that our initial design was not viable. It was not until installed after day 1 I question the fitter why there is a central upright as I wanted a full width shelf. He stated this is not an option and his paperwork shows an added note stating central support needed. Our paperwork shows the upright crossed out so no central support. You'd have thought the design limitations are understood and should be explained. We certainly should have received some contact from them when they changed the design. You should NEVER make design alterations without consultation with the client! Disappointed as this specific design was intended to keep our cases out of the way but they now will not fit. What we have is nice, but not what we asked. Should have just got a local carpenter to do exactly as we wanted rather than Sharps pretending to 'custom fit' when there are clear product limitations of their ranges which at no point was discussed. Fitter did a good job (and what was on his paperwork, which just didn't match to ours) and did tidy the room but you do have to do a dump run with everything left on the doorstep. Even a sheet that is too long for our car so not sure how we're meant to get rid of that! Considering price not best pleased. Currently in discussion with Sharps.

Designer was professional, efficient and helped me to come up with exactly what I wanted for my bedroom. However, this was the only satisfying part of the customer experience. After the company had my deposit I had nothing but trouble in arranging delivery and installation dates. The company then did not show up when we had arranged and refused to compensate for loss of earnings due to their mistakes. Eventually, 3 months later the installer arrived and the product assembled. It does look good but the customer service was appalling from such a large company. They basically told me I wasn't spending enough money with them to be a priority. I would not recommend their services.

An addendum to my earlier posting. I forgot to mention that at the technical visit we discovered that Sharps had changed the design concept of the model we had chosen and that it would not look like the image in the advertising brochure . this was not mentioned by the designer or on the first of the two survey visits. When questioned as to why they were using out of date literature we were told some regions had not yet used up the old stock and it wasn't worth changing the brochure until the whole country was selling the new model.
