“Less than one star! Abysmal customer service from the start. I bought a dress, wore it three times and the pattern wore off under the arms. Emails were ignored for weeks on end despite reminders, then they say the time limit for return has passed and something about an expired “ticket” which has never been discussed. This I feel is a way of getting out of having to refund any money. Hiding under the whole Customer Services Department name rather than a named advisor. Some fantastic claims on their website about having an ethical sourcing policy and being Anti Slavery and Human Traficking. Shame they don’t care about their customers so vehemently! Selling items which are unfit for purpose and almost denying any chance of a refund is against the law I believe. I will be sending their details to Trading Standards.”

“Ordered a dress which when it arrived was of such dreadful quality fabric. I didn’t even bother to try it on, just packed it up and returned via Post Office . Very disgusted to be informed that £3 will be deducted from my refund to cover return postage!! First and last time that I will order from Roman. Let’s see if my refund turns up.. I submitted a 1 star review which hasn’t been published on the site and then discovered that my name has been attributed to a positive comment that I most definitely did not make! Avoid this company like the plague they do not appear to be very trustworthy”

“AVOID ROMAN AT ALL COSTS!! Bought several items from Roman and some, but not all required to be returned. The total amount to be returned, £269.00 worth. I followed their instructions online and used their return label along with obtaining the Royal Mail tracking number and sent them back. It was confirmed the items were received by Roman 2 days later. Royal Mail confirmed this. I had to contact Roman who confirmed they had received the items, however there was a delay in refunds. This was 4 weeks after they had received them. I then had no word 10 days later and again when contacted they confirmed the items had been received and they would be processing the refund soon. I thereafter received an email stating they could not refund the money unless I produced the purchase receipt for returning said items from the Royal Mail. Something I no longer had as Roman confirmed they had received the items and were sorting the refund. Roman have said unless they can see proof that I have purchased a recorded delivery return then they will NOT refund the goods. They have said it stated this on their website, which it does, however Roman have confirmed that they have received the items and they have then, but are refusing to refund my money or return the goods to me as I don’t have this receipt. Royal Mail have confirmed that this is not a policy they are aware of and cannot understand why they cannot refund the goods as they have signed for them at the other end. Trading Standards have been contacted who are very interested in this Roman policy and believe that this could be classed as theft or fraud of sorts. Avoid this company!! Absolutely disgusting and I am aware we are not the only people to have or are going through this!!!”

“They delivered a damaged item. I only noticed the hole on the inside when I went to wear it. I had removed the tags. I contacted them on the phone and a gift card was agreed. Also an unpleasant girl emailed that I couldn’t get the item refunded. So basically they aren’t reasonable and customer service is zero. Avoid buying! They won’t accept returns on damages as they should! They now tell me that there’s no record of the phone call!”

“Bought awinter coat in May last year asI had vouchers.It cost £80. Truthfully I never wore it until late November when the weather started getting cold Must of worn about7 or 8 times and it split on one if the seams.I have been a good customer of Roman and bought a lot of clothes.Told they won't do anything about the coat.You only have to look at it to see it is new.Well I'm appalled and I will not be buying anything else ever from Roman.I realize thar it is a while since I bought it but truthfully the coat is still new”

“What a complete shambles when it comes to customer service. I received a dress that has a faulty hem. Contacted via their online form weeks ago and all I had was a holding email. I'm still waiting to speak to someone. This morning I tried to send another contact form but couldn't complete it as their form wasn't working properly. It really winds me up when companies use the oh we're so busy excuse for not contacting customers. I won't buy from them again nor would I recommend Utter disgrace!! Soft yourselves out Roman Originals”

“I am just very disappointed that having spent loads of money with Roman over many years, both in their shops and on line, I now find that the offers that come through state that they only apply to new customers. This is not a very good marketing exercise - by not rewarding the loyalty of valued and existing customers you may find those customers will now shop elsewhere.”

“I have ordered from Roman in the past with no issues but I won't be ordering again. I ordered two jumpers the same style in different colours. When they arrived they were very over sized and heavy. I immediately sent one back with the paperwork but kept one as it was slightly different wool and not so heavy. After a few days I tried the second one again but decided it was also was too heavy. I printed a digital label and returned it. I had a refund for the first but never the second despite numerous emails and " tickets". I have the proof of tracking and receipt of postage but still no refund!!”

“I bought a dress that I liked but the pattern matching was awful at the waist so I returned it for an exchange. At this point I had only read the good reviews on their site. I was lucky and I was sent a replacement but that was even worse. By now I had read the reviews on this site and there was only one other dress that I was interested in on Roman’s site but I was nervous of sending it back again as I was sure I would lose my money. Fortunately we have a Roman shop locally and, after checking their stock weekly for the 60days I had the dress before it had to be returned, they actually got the dress in that I was interested in. I had no option to get my money back as they would only give a credit note so I was very lucky to get a dress that I liked. This is a shocking company and I will steer clear of them in the future. I only wish I could block all of their adds that constantly come up on my computer daily. To be honest I think I have been very lucky.”

“Why does Roman originals take so long to refund money back into bank account ,when the return is sent back straight away.... The money goes out straight away when purchasing so why so long for returns ,no other company takes so long why are they hanging on to your money for so long .. If you take back to ROMAN shops its a credit note only, AND not refunded back on original bank card that you pay for on line . Its a shame because if you like and keep items all is good... BUT NOT HAPPY AT ALL WITH THE RETURNS POLICY OF ROMAN ORIGINALS.. no other company I use takes this long for returns...”

“I sent a coat back for a refund as it had a faulty zip, i had an email to say the return had been processed so waited for the refund, this was last month but no refund, i have phoned them and been told it has been refunded , but it has'nt , i don't really know where to go from here, i may try phoning them again”
