If anyone believes these 5 star reviews, they are crazy. Two vertebrae in the neck and two in my back broken due to an accident. They would not pay for the air ambulance, 6.500 Euros and I had to have all documentation translated from German to English, a further 1,500 Euros. No dedicated claim manager and very long delays in settling the claim (in part). Lousy service, and Now compare are far from independent.

I joined in 2018. I was then 62. I reside in Malaysia being a British ex-pat. In 2019 I had an Inguinal hernia due to lifting more than I should have. The operation was carried out locally and inexpensively. The Surgeons report revealed the hernia I was operated on for as new and fresh. No problem there. However it also revealed an old, fully healed hernia higher up the canal that had failed and repaired itself. The Insurers played the "Pre-existing condition" card and I was not paid out. I am fit and well. I have a regular fitness routine. My BMI is lower end of normal, BP is normal, no real worries at annual check up's. In 2022 I was found to have the right coronary artery 90% blocked after chest pains on my right side whilst at the Gym. I was admitted for surgery, received a Chemical Balloon in the artery (chemical stent?). I submitted my claim to the Insurers and they decided it was a pre-existing condition (again). Their logic is that the plaquing takes decades to occur, I therefore must have had it when I applied for Insurance in 2018. Claim disallowed. I appealed it, the appeal took several months, another months premium was paid and then the claim was booted into touch. I am no longer with this cowboy outfit. Just think about what pre-existing conditions ( long term, silent illnesses) you might have.

The disapprove claims very quickly once it reaches a bill of over $500. Citing causes of preexisting condition that has nothing to do with actual treatment. Would 100% not recommend. Claims department is incompetent and rude. Stay away from this insurance company.

To solve a case I am facing too many people who dont know what they are talking about., asking me questions impossible to answer, somehow telling me that I am lying or hiding documents. I am feeling cheated .

Blew my artery behind my left knee in Jan this year, it took Regency over a week to answer yes or no to claim, doctor stated I have a blood clot behind knee which could move to my heart, this was all explained. Outcome they just wanted old medical report to see if they could find a reason not to pay operation not concerned about health or seriousness of injury, end result told i had high cholesterol prior so would not cover nice insurance company this one, after talking with 3 mates whom were with regency same situation for all 3, please read reviews prior to joining this outfit

After three weeks and repeat demands for the same information we are still waiting for a reply for my wife’s surgery. The people there have no names to talk to and no telephone numbers to call. Their replies are so standard blow off I once asked if I was talking from a computer or a human. Their reply was that they were human but replies are computer generated. I am not making this up I have the written correspondence to back my words. I also have contacted several others using their expat insurance and two hospitals. The hospitals say they are the worst of all the insurance companies to deal with and even asked one person for details going back over 20 years ago. I feel I really bought a damp squib. The whole organization seems only interested in blocking. I have also personal claims for hospital visits which after 3 weeks have not even need recognized by them. For this I also have the email depositions. Same for my wife. To be clear I have the Thai expat insurance bought through NOW COMPARE. And a second policy for my wife. nothing we have asked for as far as my non legal knowledge goes is not in compliance with their policies

''Dear..., Pre-existing conditions aren’t unique to your plan or Regency’s policies – it’s a feature of all insurance. You cannot, for example, purchase home insurance to cover damage from a flood that happened before the policy began. Health insurance is the same, and no insurance covers everything, which is why there is a policy handbook which is available to all via our website, our brokers have and provide during the sales process, and you received as a member upon entry and renewal. If this was a new condition then it could be covered, but it’s not – it’s related to something that had already happened before your policy - I’m very sorry, and I have a pre-existing condition too so I do sympathize, but this claim is not covered. Kind Regards, Claims Handling'' The kind of support I have received. Continuing to deny I am eligible for a claim for more than 2 months in discussions and after sending many emails with information. What a terrible experience. Not happy knowing this now.

I have made three claims with Regency for expats and they have not paid any of them. I left regency and came back to them after I had changed companies I was working for. Thought I would give them a try a agin. I was checking on some equipment not manual labor just looking turned around and slipped and broke 5 ribs. The claimed that I could not be covered as it was an unsafe area. exactly what they wrote in the email response, then the doctor sen them a letter saying they had to be pinned as they had brok into and would heal maybe in 6-8 months. Thhey cam back again and said sorry on the job accident. Due t this fall I also hit my head and damaged some blood vessels in my eye and had to have surgery due to the bleeding. They didn't want to cover that either so betweeb both surgeries I am out 17,500 US dollars out of my pocket. Regency is ok if you have never been sick or plan on walking around anywhere and just stay home. I have talked to others 5 persons who was treated the same way and one even told me that he was offered 50% after 3 months of arguing with regency. I would never recommend them to anyone for any reason.

I can not recommend Regency, with me it took two weeks until the negative decision was made, although I could present expertises from Switzerland. Steer clear, they only collect high bonuses and if you have something, they squirm to death. NEVER NEVER have this insurance

Terrible insurance company opitimising the old addage that insurance companies look for every reason not to pay. I had a legitimate claim, I was alone in a foreign country in pain and in hospital but they would cover me because of an incorrect fact that they were sticking to, if I had reported to the ombudsman or taken legal action it would have been covered but they kept pushing back and wearing me down to the point that I paid to fly myself to Australia to pay for my own care. Beware of these sheisters. Also, they didn't respond to my claim for a week, but responded immediately when I wanted to change how they received my payment. My experience is that they want to take your money $600 per month I paid, but when you have a legitimate claim do everything not to pay you.

Please be aware of this company, I have just been sent my renewal of $7,053.00 when last year I paid $3,312.28 this is NOT inline with what they indicate as a 10% increase for this year. I had the same trouble last year until I complained. I would never recomend this medical insurance company to anybody.

just doing my first claim with Regency for routine preventive tests. Awful system, need to fill in a form with bizarre questions and get it filled in by doctor and stamped. The form is in pdf they don`t even offer online claim submissions as other companies do. On top of the forms they also ask for medical reports! I also have a language issue as all of my claims will be in other languages than English and I have to translate the form or get it translated at my own cost. I am waiting that this policy expires and will definitely look for a more user-friendly and less intrusive health insurance company. I am so disappointed and so angry I bought this insurance policy.

I had an accident with a bike in Indonesia and ended up unconscious in a local hospital. They stitched me up and gave me a bed. Basically I couldn't see out one eye, a concussion, multiple fractures in my face and doctors found liquid close to my brain which could have been there before but we don't know that. Once I could function a little bit I called regency to ask for help, mainly because there was no communication in this hospital and I had no idea about my condition. The only thing they told me was to fill in the claim form, send everything through and only then they could help me. Imagine me with one eye in a Hospital without a printer, no communication possible with doctors, lot's of phone calls and emails with only one result. "Fill in a claim form" Regency never returned my calls, regency never talked with this hospital, the Indonesian help desk doesn't speak or read Indonesian so THEY ASKED ME to translate my medical reports. So after 48 hours I left the hospital by myself, after 72 hours of terrible communication I managed to send the claim form which then was rejected because of a missing police report. Mind you that I am in Indonesia where police is hard to find, especially when you need them. In these 72 hours they only called me once, the last day at 3am.... Some Thai guy from regency help desk telling me that they need a filled in Claim report or else they couldn't do anything. Big thanks to Regency, worse service I ever encountered.

they send me many emails insisting me to take the in patient and out patient for my baby. I apply for this insurance before my baby was born....sending me lots of emails saying that vaccin will be covered on my policy that's why I should opt fot the in patient and out patient policy and 2 days ago I send them my claim today I get a transfer on my account they didn't even send me and email to give me the break down just transfer a little amount not even half of what they should do and I have to call them to get an explanation the staff there couldn't even give me an appropriate one and just tell me that vaccin is not included when I have an email from them saying clearly that all vaccin will be included. this company is a joke don't waste your time and money in this company they only look for their own benefit..... they are actually advising lot's of thing on youtube ect... unfortunately I am so upset and disappointed with them that I will send all this documents to the news in Thailand as my brother is the director of a big news paper in Thailand for expat I will make sure that everyone know how they are bad scammer. I would definitely not renew my premium. unfortunately their are ony 2 good staff there that I will not put their names those 2 girls are just perfect and I think the company should consider having more people like them as apart from them nothing is good in this company..

I would not trust them again. This is after they declined my initial claim. Then encouraged me to am appeal, based upon their interpretation of my medical procedures, and then they denied the claim. I have filed a compliant with the UK authorities, but this is a stretch. As soon as I feel I can get coverage elsewhere I will leave Regency for good.

My claim has been assessed as not eligible because of my ‘existent’ disease. Which is bull**** and not legal to assume that my current symptoms come from that.

Regency for Expats Review: An awful customer experience from a claims perspective - constantly asking for more information and unable to be prescriptive on the information that would satisfy their experts, who remain un-conctable and hidden behind the account management team. Claims bounce from one account manager to another, who often duplicate requests and seem unaware of previous correspondence. Premiums are good value for money for a reason - you will struggle to get your money back in claims. Would not recommend.

Steer well clear of this outfit. It has a glossy sounding name, but an abominable service. I cannot give zero stars, so I had to give it one. But believe me, not even that one star is deserved. I paid a four-digit USD amount for my annual coverage, only to have two claims in sequence declined for payment. You will not be adequately covered with this policy. It is as useless as tits on a hog. Any money you wire them to cover your policy may just as well be flushed down the toilet. You'll be better off saving it, and then either pay for your treatment out of your own pocket (which is what I had to do) or spend it on an insurer that actually deserves the title "insurer". I was ripped off, don't let the same happen to you. Heed my warning.

I strongly suspect this 'company' is nothing but a bank account and an email service. My wife was knocked down by a motor vehicle and required surgery. Contacted the claims service, was issued a claims number and that's about all they have done in 7 months. Randomly people contacted us in the initial month to tell us all about how we 100% had hospital coverage, how without a doubt we would be reimbursed for the medical expenses. Then all stopped and the tune was changed to its an accident so we don't have to cover it... Here is the question I have for anyone from Regency reading this... all medical treatment required will be a result of an accident... you don't purposely get ill, you don't purposely suffer an injury! If anyone from regency would like to contact me to discuss why they have failed to meet the terms of the policy I would be only to happy to discuss it, but as they won't my advice to anyone traveling to Europe for more than a holiday... do NOT use regency as your visa required health insurance, they will issue the certificate for your visa application, take your money, and that is the last thing they will ever do for you.
