Many thanks for the Review Frances, and although negative from your point of view and understandable I would like to respond to help others reading this. Your case involved the recovery of files overwritten by new data and an upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10. The recovered file quality report showed that 72% of the previous data had been corrupted and you felt the 28% of good files in the file list were of no use or not worth the cost of the recovery. We do try to help in every case and our charges were negligible compared to a competitor in the same situation who would have charged you £1200 for the same work and the exact same results. Unfortunately this is not an engineering level situation, it is matter of fact logical problem, data can be corrupted by overwriting, but the files may still have useful content. Deleting data or upgrading an operating system and losing access to files means the data is still there just not accessible, and the space is now available to be written to, never continue using the system and do not add more files until the previous data has been recovered to a separate storage device. Despite this Seagate drive having already been declared unrecoverable with a faulty PCB but we managed to find a donor from our stock, only to find that the drive heads had suffered as well. A donor drive and a rebuild by one our engineering team achieved the desired outcome - a successful recovery and a quality of 96.80% of the 363.8GB of data. Many thanks for the work and the review.

With Water damage to air book and Apple Store Genius Bar unable to assist we were pleased to solve the corrosion and contamination issues that had resulted in a short circuit. and get a full recovery. Although SSD have some advantages, in the event of water damage and corrosion they can be much more problematic but once the circuitry repairs had been made a surprisingly full SSD drive of data was rescued in perfect condition.

Many thanks for the Review Martyn Fortunately we were able to get the data from the drive despite it having a scratch affecting over several million bad sectors, whilst there were a significant number of unread: 205209 and unprocessed: 2570537 the recovered data was in good condition. It may be possible to improve the results with another set of heads but the improvement would require considerably more time and cost whereas we were able to deliver the majority at the price quoted at the outset despite it being one of the more severe platter damages which many other data recovery services would not be able to process cost effectively. Many thanks for the review of the team John In this particular case PCWorld had already said the drive was mechanically failed and had offered to send it away. Gareth was able to give an accurate price for the recovery based on your description and on assessment in the lab it was confirmed the drive had suffered a head crash and had a severe scratch in the Firmware Zone, Lead engineer Lucio was able to stabilise the drive and effect a recover contents of almost 1.5 Billion sectors with only 500 being unreadable. The data was fully recovered and processed within the service level and pricing given at the outset. Hi David, thank you for taking time to leave a review. I am sorry the results were not what we all would have liked. The issue was with how your RAID1(mirrored) Network Attached Storage had failed, the subsequent reset of the partitions and stripe size. Not only was the file system destroyed, but also large video files were corrupted and rendered beyond recovery. We were able to recover smaller documents and excel sheets using a RAW scan and most were unaffected. The underlying fault was firmware errors and smart errors, the drives logs showed there had been a number power cycles and errors developing possibly as a result of a power outage. Had the drives not been forced back online the partition and file system not reset and a rebuild / resynch of the data attempted the larger file types would have been recoverable. Hi Paul Your unbranded 8GB stick had a number of faults common to failed flash memory which fail. In reality NAND chips should be regarded as temporary data transfer devices rather than places to backup data to. That said we were able to complete the recovery 100% and just 105.4MB of Microsoft Documents sent by secure download. The price quoted at the outset can seem expensive relative to the few pound or even freebie memory stick value, but the time and resources of our engineering capabilities and safe / secure service is cost effective. Hi Sam I am sorry we could not help in your case, there were two factors, failed heads and some platter damage and worse a relatively rare version of a Western Digital WD20EARX-00MMMB0 Although we have dozens of similar models in stock, the correct revision could only be found on eBay at the time it is was needed and the sellers had also realised it was a low production run version which will take time to come into the data recovery parts system. Many thanks for the review Martin It does help to identify situations where even the very best data recovery engineers and service can fall foul of a situation which is a truly terrible situation for you- Namely overwriting your business critical data and not backing up emails. I am sorry you did not recognise our attempts to assist and that our company did the work free of charge trying to help you. When speaking to the customer he was not fully sure whether or not he had written over the data on the internal hard drive. data seemed to be lost after upgrading to windows 10. we had told them that if they have accidently wrote over the old data then we may not be able to get it back so that they are aware but told them to send in for the free assessment anyway. A recovery was undertaken and it produced a quality of just 47.12% 12.7GB which was accepted. The client accepted the file list and paid the invoice and testing the data himself then complaining that the results were not good enough when we had already advised that it was a low quality result. Sadly we cannot help everyone and we are also distinctly saddened that even in our trying to help, only the negative aspect of the result is focused on. Dear Badr Your original contact was in Early 2015 and at that time we gave an accurate cost of recovery which we stuck to almost a year later in 2016. Your QNAP RAID 5 failed with 3.7TB of data due to 2 failed Disks. We were successful in recovering over 99% of the 3.7TB in perfect condition at the price quoted from the outset. “I run a small IT support company in London and I have had several clients who have needed professional data recovery. When I first approached R3 data recovery I had a portable hard drive that wouldn’t start up. I called up and spoke with Andy, who was extremely helpful.
