“Delivery was quick, have planted a few seeds so far and just waiting for them to start”

“I faithfully carried out the instructions for the wormery, but within a fortnight all the worms had disappeared; as they were on a clean worktop in a clean building I've no idea where they went. Anyway, the company replaced them without demur and I'm now waiting. I can spot the occasional worm wriggling but they don't seem to have touched any of the food after two or three weeks. Verdict - seems okay, but not yet fully convinced.”

Hi Christopher, Thanks for the feedback and apologies for the issues you're encountering. Please be aware it's perfectly normal for worms to escape at first as they are inquisitive by nature and like the explore. The best way to combat this is to ensure they are in the best conditions possible and if possible, place an escapees back into the wormery. “Confusion between product name, marketing/product name and brand ownership almost causes doubt. Premium pricing it seems!”

“I'm happy with the product but the delivery took longer than expected. Although the product was undamaged the packing was poor. Could do better!”

“The contents were not labelled, so mix up with 2 products, and instructions were different on 2 of the info papers ! The worms were not quality, small, thin, etc, so had to purchased some Tiger Worms from Yorkshire wormer, what a difference, long, fit healthily looking and immediately active. So actual cages ok, rest not”

Hi Alan, Thanks for your order and apologies to hear what's happened. We sell hundreds of these tiger worms per month without issue so I'm sorry to hear this happened. The worms are often dormant (asleep) during transportation and require some time to wake up so please keep this in mind. “I hesitated ordering a gutter mate during the covid shut down but eventually took the plunge and although I was expecting a bit of a delay on delivery the product arrived with in 7 days. It was as expected but had to look on line to find fitting instructions but was otherwise easy to fit. I purchased the gutter mate as I found the leaf guard in my gutter was frequently getting blocked by moss and I wanted something within reach to catch the moss which the gutter mate does, my only gripe was on receiving an e mail 3 weeks later saying that my purchase had just been dispatched but I presumed this was the computerised system catching up as the workers returned”

“It was hard to get in contact when the item was delayed (not unexpected) but did eventually arrive. The item (replacement wormery container) WAS NOT of the same standard as the original”

“I purchased a seed feeder which was supposed to prevent corvids and squirrels from getting to the seeds. The feeder arrived very promptly so I have nothing but praise for the company. I do have some reservations however about the design of the feeder. It does not prevent magpies from reaching the seed. I needed to fix rectangles of steel mesh on the outside frame opposite the feeding points to keep these corvids from reaching the seeds. I also had to bend and reverse the metal from which the feeder hangs in order to prevent squirrels from removing the lid. If anyone actually reads this perhaps it may result in a design change to allow future customers to improve the ratings.”

“Some really good items on the site but was very disappointed that my 'original wormery' arrived with no draining tray, although it did say in the small print, you cannot use the wormery without the tray so I don't see how it can be sold separately.. A bit like buying a vacuum cleaner without the pipe and tools.... I therefore had to pay 2 x £5.99 delivery, not ideal at all!!”

“I think the parsley kit should include compost. There was a lot of polystyrene peanut packaging 'protecting' a big, flexible, plastic trug. It seemed unnecessary and it's not widely recycled.”

“Expensive for what it is. Ordered sample which was stated as free delivery but they chose to include a tin of ointment and charged delivery. Product not producing any results: definitely will not be reordering.”

“I purchased a second wormery, this time of the stacking variety because I felt it looked more aesthetically pleasing. However I now wish I had stuck with the ‘dustbin’ type. The latter is far more sturdy, more weatherproof and shaped more easily to protect with fleece over Winter. The stacking type is really too lightweight and flimsy in my opinion. Hope this is useful.”

“I was pleased to receive packs of green cone accelerator from Original Organics promptly and as required. But I was concerned at the packaging of the box in which they arrived - the filler material in the cardboard box appears to be polystyrene which is not compostable. This rather undermines the ethos of your work and produce and I would like to know how to dispose of it. Otherwise I would rate the company at 5/5.”

If we sent polystyrene effect 'wotsit' looking filling, this is completely compostable and made from cornstarch. “The water butt is fine but it was not made clear that it also needs a stand and diverter (?) which I will now have to order separately. Also PLEASE stop using DPD for deliveries. It was impossible to change my delivery address and in the end it had to be delivered next door!”

Hi Hilary, thank you for your review. We do state clearly on the website that the stand is not included with the waterbutt and that it can be purchased on the website separately. The issue with DPD is because you had a note set up in your DPD account which would divert any order you place to an alternative address. Unfortunately as stated on the phone, this was something only you could change with DPD and is not an issue other customers would experience. As for your order, I'm glad we eventually found a workaround and that you were able to receive your waterbutt from us. I must also thank you for your order and please be assured, we aim for 100% satisfaction with all customers :)

“while the compost bin is great even if made out of plastic the provided quantity of worms is far from being enough to actually start composting in an efficient way; I had to buy more worms from another provider.”

“In general the wormery seems good quality, but despite following the instructions it has failed to establish and there are no signs of any worms in there anymore! There were a couple of issues when it was delivered: - I recieved a hard block of coir instead of compost as stated in the instruction and was not sure how to make this into compost, it was extremely hard to crumble. - The bag of worms were partially crushed by other items in the box. - The stand was not delivered with the wormery, this was quickly resolved and sent later, but I was disappointed that it was packaged in polystrene pieces, completely unnecessary I would have thought for a plastic stand and not what I would expect from an eco friendly company. I am planning to order more worms to give it another try...”

Hello, Thank you very much for your feedback. Maintaining a wormery is hard work, especially because there are no exact sciences to how to get the best results from your wormery. Unfortunately, we cannot stop worms trying to escape as they are able to get through even the tiniest of holes. Therefore, the best possible way of dealing with them is to make their living conditions as ideal as it can be. The includes: - Keeping the wormery under shelter so that rain doesn't fall on it, potentially drowning the wormery. Sheds and garages are ideal places to keep your wormery. - Making sure that it is not too cold or hot for them. - Avoiding acidic foods such as fruits and peels. Of course, this is all mentioned in the wormery guide and as mentioned in the guide, to break down the coir block you will have to soak it in water first. We are sorry to hear that the bag of worms was partially crushed when they arrived, we will take this onto our warehouse team who pack the products. In terms of the use of polystyrene, we try to make sure we are as efficient and as Eco-friendly as possible when it comes to our packaging. However, in order to avoid customers getting their items damaged, which will lead to an unhappy customer and the use of even more packaging, we have decided it is better to try pack it so that it arrives without damage on the first attempt.
