The bi-fold has only recently been installed and at the first attempt there was a scratch on the glass and the replacement glass has a mark (inside the double glazing panes) so has be changed again.

I don't know whether it was incompetent retailers or a poor design of door or both but we have had a terrible time. Cold air and water have penetrated the side and underneath of the door. Initially the wrong size solid white panel and glass panel were supplied so we had a temporary white panel for the glass and a piece of hardwood for the solid panel. Appointments were forgotten or fitters arrived very late. After long series of complaints two of your own repair team came and advised that the door should be compressed down further. This was done by Nationcare Windows but warmer weather and no rain mean we cannot tell whether or not it has worked. It was a terrible experience, is still not necessarily resolved and I would not be surprised if the whole thing will need to be removed and begun again with a completely new door. I would not use the Nationcare fitters and would ask for your own team. It has been an awful time and has given both the retailer and Origin bad reputations.

Not happy with bi-fold doors due to gaps between doors and no thermal break on top or bottom so get a lot of condensing on bottom of doors

Our French doors don't perform well thermally, and they look cheaply-made when open. Both these problems are caused by the design of using bi-fold tracks at the top and bottom of the frame, which French doors clearly don't need. So when open, the doors look like they haven't been finished off properly and are missing flush finishing plates. It's poor design that we didn't notice in the showroom, probably because the French door display was a dark grey aluminium, but the white colour that we had fitted it really emphasises the unfinished look. Thermally, the top track simply transfers cold temperatures from the outside straight through to the inside, with no thermal break so it attracts condensation. The effect is exacerbated by the design of the trickle vent which is not a pipe leading from the outside vent to the inside vent, but is simply just a hole from the outside transferring cold air to the entire top track. It's a design that would be understandable for bi-fold doors, but not for French doors. In summary our Origin windows are beautiful, but our French doors are pure disappointment.

I'm sorry to hear about your disappointment with your Origin French doors. Our French doors have the same thermal efficiency as our bifolding doors which easily surpass building regulations. If you are having problems with draughts or condensation this could be down to the installation. If you would like to discuss it further please don't hesitate to contact us on 01925 907 907 or email us enquiry@origin-global.com

Quality is not that good. Trickle vent fell off in first few weeks and needed replacing with something more robust. Metal surround plate on outside lock fell off after a few months. The Locking mechanism broke and bits fell out of the door in the first year. Right now we are unable to lock the doors which leave the entire back of our hose open to anyone who wants to break in. Glass panes are scratched too. Wouldn't buy again.

We have only had the doors for about 3 months and have hardly used them at all, but the seal has already collapsed on one part of the frame

The bifold lever lock key was snapped off during or shortly after installation due to a design fault whereby if you leave the key in when you open the key is snapped. A 3-fold door lever lock was broken shortly after it was installed and has been many months in getting repaired. There was a small dent in the bifold doors. Recommend your doors- what do you think?

Installation a disaster. Installed bifold doors in to oak frame in living room. Fitters had never done an oak frame install before. They were asked to put the doors in to meet external cover boards to ensure a weather tight seal. However they did not check frame position where they were asked to put the frame and the jamb and head screws have missed the structural oak posts and beams completely. Nice product but appalling installation.

The product seems good and the effect on the room where they are fitted is great , bringing the outside in. On the downside they were installed badly (by a third party), the sliding doors are stiff , both doors / sets are very drafty so may need adjusting and the threshold height is too high due to installation errors. The service from Origin themselves so far has been very good, but our relationship with the installer has broken down . The installer also had to replace a large number of windows (after we had to obtain an independant report ) that they had installed as they were the wrong size or damaged by them during failed remedial works (8 number so far). The installer still has works outstanding on the site but we have not heard from them for 2 months. Installation of the Origins started in August 15 and trims were not completed until December 15. So the conclusion is that Origin provide a quality product and service but be very careful who installs them . Maybe Origin could be more selective about who they allow to install their products . Due to the problems (which may not be due to Origin) I am disappointed at present.

We researched a lot of bi-fold doors before deciding that Origin seemed the best choice. We were uncomfortable with the recommended supplier and installer in our area so went further afield to source them. Unfortunately one of the sets of doors was badly damaged on the day of delivery and so we could only have one bi-fold installed, leaving us with a large gap that needed to be boarded up while Origin made us another one. They told us 2 weeks. It took 3 weeks and, again, when it came, was defectivie. We were offered no apology from Origin or any form of recompense for our inconvenience. In fact we had no contact from Origin at all. We are still waiting for Origin to sort out the second defect in the door.

Purchased these doors through your price windows. All very helpful until payment was made. Doors turned up and frame was 5mm to small to fit the doors in. The installer had to widen the side jams to fit. Some of the pre fitted hinges were fitted in the wrong places, proving that the doors were not checked properly before shipping. The installer was not impressed with the rubber seals and the fixings supplied. There were also a few scratches and marks on the doors. I contacted Origin about these issues, who were not interested in the slightest and simply referred me back to your price windows. I tried to contact your price windows to advise them of these issues, which cost me a fair amount of money to get sorted, with no luck. Called and left a message as well as emailed. Still no response. Not good service or product. Hope this helps prospective purchasers make their decision. Wish I had gone elsewhere.

I love the doors - they look great. However they do not close easily and its is a real struggle for my wife to close the doors when I am not there. It also took me quite a while to get my guarantees The main problem is we have to lift the handle really hard and they crunch into place - apparently this can and will be fixed as its a problem with one of the parts but we have been waiting for an appointment to have them fixed for about 2 months which means my wife and family have been unable to use the doors in this amazing weather whilst I haven't been there. Hopefully they will be fixed at the end of this month - I will update this when complete as its been a bit frustrating so far

Wouldn't use again. Thought they would be different. The sales guy confirmed doors would be ready by specific date if paid deposit. Deposit paid doors were not ready on time. Delayed the build. Sales guy couldn't give a f&&k. Very poor service, feel ripped off and cheated. Doors seem good quality though but defo wouldn't recommend.

Please find set out below copy of correspondence sent to Origin post installation. A far from satisfactory response was received by return. Kestrels Howe Hill Watlington Oxfordshire OX49 5HA 07973 116694 17th December 2014 Attention of: Mr A Halsall Origin Frames Ltd Sunters End Hillbottom Road High Wycombe Buckinghamshire HP12 4HS Dear Mr Halsall, We recently purchased a set of bi-fold doors and a quantity of windows through Multifold Doors to whom we were directed after visiting your High Wycombe showrooms back in October. We were impressed not only in the quality of your products but also in the very professional way that Chris Blackburn of Multifold handled our enquiry and managed the subsequent order. What we were not impressed with was the level of service that we received from Origin. To be asked by one of your delivery drivers to give him a hand in unloading the shipment of windows was highly unprofessional and it is not my problem if the job required more than one person to effect the delivery. As it happens, one of the builders working at our house arrived early and kindly offered to help but had he not been there what would have happened? Is it your normal practice to expect your customers to help offload? The windows were then installed by fitters provided through Multifold who I must say carried out a very thorough and professional installation working into the evening to finish the job. They were neat and tidy in their work and cleaned up any mess that had been made. Rather more than can be said of the Origin provided fitters who came to install the bi-fold doors and one side window the following week. I have attached two photographs which show what was left behind following the installation and I am sure that you will agree that this is far from what is expected from a company with the reputation of Origin. The fitting itself was also carried out to a very poor standard, a number of bricks were badly damaged i.e. cracked and split of which no mention was made at the time but which was subsequently pointed out to me by one of our builders. These bricks have had to be replaced at cost to myself. The installation could not be completed because of an issue with the sill and trim but we were assured that this would be completed the following week. Chris of Multifold along with the two fitters and one of your surveyors duly turned up to inspect the damage and assured us that everything would be put right with the co-operation of our builders. As already stated our builders repaired the brickwork and the next day someone from Origin arrived late on in the day when we were not there and proceeded to fill in gaps around the bi-fold door with mastic, however because the gap between the frame and the brickwork was too wide there were inordinate amounts of mastic used and there were holes where the mastic had failed to adhere. We contacted Chris who came to inspect the next day and upon seeing the doors agreed that the finish was appalling. He then arranged for his own fitter to attend to rectify the poor workmanship. This time the job was completed properly and to our satisfaction though it had taken in excess of two weeks to complete. It is interesting to note that on the back page of your brochure it states “Their ambitious solution was to create a company capable of manufacturing the UK’s best quality doors, backed by uncompromising levels of service”. Also in your brochure it states that “ in the unlikely event you discover a problem with your doors or the installation, you have peace of mind knowing a UK based customer service team is available to support you and put things right”. Bearing in mind it was Origin installers who fitted the door, Origin did very little to put things right and it was left to Multifold to finish the installation to an acceptable standard. In all, a very disappointing experience which took the shine off what should have been an uplifting and pleasant event. I will be very interested to hear your comments and also look forward to some financial recompense for the distress caused. Yours sincerely, Richard Hughes

Great product although had an absolute nightmare as they only sell through (supposedly high-end) window/door companies that fit them. The company that did ours were a bunch of cowboys (Basfords in Nottingham) - basically give you all the spin.... great quality....all about YOUR leadtime, not ours.....look after you all the way through and beyond... None of this was true and because (stupidly) we paid all the money up front they were not at all quick at resolving the (many) problems. We had the B team fitters who made an absolute mess then the better fitters although not a lot to choose between them as we still continued to have problems (and are still not resolved after 7 months since we paid). The doors had to be refitted, the wrong gaskets were fitted, then fitted shodily and had to be redone, the doors weren't screwed in at the bottom and therefore couldn't have them open, scratches, poorly cut sills, wrong sized glass, wrong colour sealant, not to mention the huge leadtimes and many times of promising to come to resolve issues then not turning up. Finally with the latest issue of the door sills moving 7 months down the line, we put a complaint into Origin to get help on ensuring that Basfords were finally fitting correctly as they are responsible for ensuring that their sole distributors are fit for purpose - we were told that one of their surveyors would come out at the same time as Basfords to check the work then a few days later they said our contract was with Basfords and they could do nothing to help us!!!!! At this point I can only conclude that Origin are as bad as Basfords and do not care about the customer service surrounding their products. So as I say, great product however what good is that if you cannot guarantee the fitting / quality / leadtime or Customer service....... Very poor indeed.

Had a problem with the doors I purchased I did ring your customer service and they told me they would get back to me they didn't. I had to get Aston windows the people who fitted the doors to arrange for your window engineer to call around and sort the problem out, he was 2hours late should have been to me at 9am turned up at 11am I'm still not that happy with the fit of the doors I can still see a small gap along the top of the exit door. I payed a lot of money for these doors I was hoping they would last longer than 6 months. Yours sincerely Simon plastow.

Having had the windows and doors purchased by my builder on my behalf i had poor response to any questions I had for Origin. For example, I asked for someone to come out to adjust the doors....I was told to pay £60. This was after 3-4 weeks

Nothing but problems. First attempt - door scraped the carpet. Second attempt - trickle vent fitted incorrectly so would not seal and top of frame bowed such that the doors did not seal oh and lock fixing screw had split the thermal break. Straightening of the frame resulted in a large hole in plaster requiring replacement of plaster board and plaster plus redecoration. Am still waiting for supplier to contact me to see if repair was satisfactory and to send in finisher to remove a stain on the frame. I have not been offered compensation for the hassle. I realise that these problems were not of Origin's making but they reflect on the manufacturer. Otherwise; the door is good and we are very pleased with the outcome.
