I'm a one man band cooking and serving hot food from a converted horse trailer. I've been an NCASS member since I started up seven years ago. NCASS has provided me with one stop shopping for all my due dilegence paper work, training and legal advice. On first glance membership is not cheap but I think it is good value, I would have struggled to find all these resources so easy to access in one place at a lower cost. I have found that the revised Full Safety Management System has become a bit 'bloated' for a small sole trader like myself so I pick out and tweak the bits of the binder supplied to members that I think are most relevant to my curcumstance. Still much easier and quicker than starting from scratch with a blank piece of paper.

All services 10/10 makes running your businesses much easier! Highly recommend. Only area of improvement would be the job finding tool. Not many jobs offerings and mostly public facing.

I emailed you about the membership level differences with my two businesses, but you didn't reply. I think it is overpriced for what I am getting. I don't use work ops, the one off booker discount is ok, so I just use you for the legal docs and RAs, which are good. I've asked about staff issues before but was told its not your area of specialism. Signed up, as I have no other option. Edit: the operative mentioned the value of the Booker discounts, when I pressed her on the value of my membership fee. Good point, but you are in partnership with Booker, and will recieve good returns on your investments from them. I could source products from other suppliers, but Booker is my local. I repeat, I have no other option, as you build in brand loyalty through us investing in your afilliates. So, £200 vouchers are useful, and do help to justify the subscription fee. I do object to the constant review and follow up culture. It's a mild form of bullying. I have raised the rating because the girl who rang today was most helpful and polite, but her role was ostentially to turn negative into positive reviews, a role that I am contributing to through my funding and cooperation.

Joining NCASS every year is a cost I have to consider carefully as a small business. However the reassurance it gives me to make sure I have all the regulatory requirements and good systems in place is worth every penny. It's a reminder to review everything annually, it's provides clear instructions and tracking of health and safety requirements, it's convenient training for my staff and the saving in discounts at places like Bookers almost offsets the cost of membership

I like everything about NCASS except I wish they offered more for Northern Ireland members. Everything seems geared for members in England.

NCASS really helped our business when we started up in so many ways. We had no idea where to begin with risk assessments, courses etc and NCASS really make this easy. Without tho we wouldn’t have the guidance to pass our Food Hygiene compliance to a 5 Star review nor would We be able to apply for many events. Not only that but we vastly benefit from The discounts and cash back offers with suppliers making the membership invaluable and worth its an obvious return on investment for this reason alone. Would definitely recommend.

Would definitely recommend for new business owners for their first year. Much easier having all the paperwork you require there to hand and easy to follow. The job opportunities have been a waste of time as there has been not a single one in my area or within an hours drive.

Ncass is particularly useful for start-ups, providing all the paperwork, training and advice in one dashboard. I re-joined this year as I shut down for most of 2020 for covid, and it has helped greatly in getting my old paperwork upto date for the new season. I have found their regular updates during covid extremely useful, with some invaluable information around regulation and funding.

It’s great for all the paperwork and makes these things very easy. The work opps part we don’t use as much but we find people tend to not reply at all if they don’t want you.

NCASS are very good and their online training, pre-formatted diligence templates and access to advice is great. I live in the Scottish Highlands. My one criticism of NCASS Is that NCASS have no listings for gas engineers and electricians to the catering industry (a membership benefit includes access to service provider listings) for all of Scotland,(yet have excellent listing for all of England) and in my experience have a low presence in Scotland generally. As a result there are few leads and referrals from NCASS within Scotland and none (to date) within the Highlands. To NCASS's credit I have raised this as a concern previously and this has been reflected in my membership rate, which is appreciated. I feel this approach is fair at least until NCASS make further inroads in the Scottish Catering Industry and are able to provide a useful network as they do elsewhere. Do that, and they would rate a "Very Good". I have been impressed by the recent Covid 19 updates provided by NCASS and it is good to know that they have also been lobbying Government on behalf of members. I have also been pleased that NCASS are easy to get in touch with and helpful when we do.

Excellent if you run a food truck and your business comes from festivals or venues where food trucks are required. We run an event catering business, catering mostly weddings and significant birthday parties for 150 guests. There's a lot of overlap on H&S systems and general paperwork to keep the wheels on the bus turning, so a lot of peace of mind. Staff are really friendly and do go out of their way to answer questions or at least point you in the right direction.
