Sunderland branch Fulwell. Manger of shop. Most miserable, guy. Not flexable-unhelpful. Bought doors I didn’t want. When I Ordered the doors went back next day, decided to go for wooden door. Got told too late, can’t change order.

Charged me £10 for someone to measure up for a new internal door. Paid for the door, only to find out that they couldn't fit the door for over two months, without a guarantee of fitting. Had to have a refund, but they couldn't refund the £10 fitting charge!

bought some timber 32 x 32 the price said £4.50 for 1.8lm , good i thought , when i got to the till the lady says "that 1"1/2 " i says NO its 32mm "No its not its 38mm " No i says its 32mm and got my tape out and showed her "there you are 32mm" "no its 38mm cut down to 32mm so it will have to pay for 38mm x 38mm at £6 each a difference of £1.50 , again a questioned this and i was told i had to pay for the bit they had been removed , to which i replied " if i have to pay the extra then can o have it to take home" No we haven't got it ! total robbery

Hi I am a very regular Maxwells customer. However I have just purchased 2 lengths of beading from your sea road store. Whilst walking to my car carrying the beading one of the lengths suddenly snapped in 2. I returned to the shop and explained what had happened and asked if i could replace it. "Not Really Like" was the response. - needless to say I shall be buying all my DIY requirements elsewhere in future. P.s This was my sixth purchase of these £2 items this week. Absolutely disgusted by the response I got Frank Turns

Worst ever website. NO PRODUCTS TO VIEW OR BUY!!! Come on, you can do better than that! I've done to Wickes or B&Q instead who have proper websites with descriptions and prices.

I have shopped at Maxwells for decades and always great service and they cut your wood too. Spent thousands at birtley store. However, went the other day as needed a small kitchen cupboard door cutting down and got told the CEO has stopped it. Needless to say I have never been back and have taken my business elsewhere. He obviously does not realise, it was very good for customer relations and two they charged per cut, so was even making money out of it. Very disappointed

website offers choice of sizes of fence post. I opted for 1200x75x75 priced at £4. They only had 1800 & 2400 so I asked about cutting a 2400 in half. No prob, they cut it for me and handed me the two 1200 posts. I said I only need one and they said "you might aswell take them cos you're paying for a 2400, you pay for the length you picked up'. And it cost me £10. Two x £4 was £8 when I went to school. Had to have post to finish job. Bit sad when you leave local store thinking best buy off internet, less chance of being conned. It would have been cheaper to buy a 1800 but I thought leaving them with a 600 was stupid. Der, I've got my right finger stuck in my left ear. Help

I had a number of small pieces of woodi needed cutting. They're was one man in the queue behind me. The cutter days he'd do them later that day as he needed to serve everyone what first and my job would take a while. I told him there's was one man behind me and that he could go first then he could do mine. He refused staying that other customers might come along and want theirs done. He said he would ring me later that day when he managed to get mine done after everyone else. I told him not to bother and I'd take my customer else where. They've lost me as a customer.

1 tin of paint arrived instead of the 10 I had ordered, the problem was that my e nails were then ignored for weeks by customer services, I was left in a predicament. Fortunately I had pain by PayPal. I would Defo avoid this company whose motto clearly means nothing!

Shopped in Southshields store yesterday and was charged £36 for a sheet of 9mms plywood they did cut it for me however it has always been 50 pence for first cut and rest no charge. This cannot be right people go to Maxwell's because they have a cutting service puts them ahead of dog stores in this respect. Are Maxwell's jumping on virus bandwagon I think board was only £15 or am I mistaken. On top of this only 3 out of 6 cuts were correct.

Paint ordered on 18th March and payment taken same day. No sign of paint or any indication as to when it might arrive. No delivery or DHL reference to follow up. Disgusted with this dreadful attitude which I am now referring to Trading Standards. Covid19 is no excuse for fraud or mismanagement of customers.

Hello, i am not usually one to complain but i feel i must say something about the abismal treatment i recieved today ( sunday 26/4) at your Birtley Branch. i rang yesterday ( 25/4) enquiring about loft boards, i was informed that ther were in stock but the shop was closing soon and would be open at 10am on Sunday, i was also told it would be best to turn up at 09.30 to get ahead of the queue. so this morning i turned up at 09.30 and was pleased to see i was the only one there so first in the queue. The main gate was locked so i parked outside ready for it to open. at 10.00 i rand the store to ask if someone could open the gate as there were n ow about 30 cars waiting to be in. at 10.07 someone came and opened the gate only to find there were already about 25 people outside the shop who had left their cars and walked in! so from queuing at 09.30 i finally actually got into the shop, after having to join the end of the queue at around 10,30. i know these are difficult times but if i was told to queue from 09.30 the least they could have done is open the gates then to let the cars in. when i copmpained at the shop i was told, sorry nothing we can do about it!! great customer service....NOT!
